Yatkaugo: Dead West
Geography
Lakes speckle the landscape, but nothing grows there. The ground is a grayish blue, ranging from head-sized rocks to sand in texture. Nomads cross the landscape in seemingly random fashion. The coastline teems with fish and other aquatic life, and the only permanent settlements of note dot the coastline as fishing villages, with the single exception of a large trade hub, Wugoloo, on the relatively flat east coast. That said, there is a large gathering of nomads which serves as the continent's inland capital: Rakouriyo. There are no buildings to its name, as everything is mobile, so the exact location changes by several waysaway each year, to the lament of travellers and cartographers alike.
Fauna & Flora
Nothing is able to grow in Yatkaugo. Any seeds or fertilizer laid on the ground vanish by the next day. As a result, the only fauna available in the region get their nutrients from the sea. Rain passes through the area, and local fauna have developed ways to collect the rain, often through skin absorption. All animals that live in this area know how to swim and how to travel long distances, namely from the center to the sea and back. For purely unexplained reasons, be it a human seeder or an ancient migration, there are surprising quantities of fish in the lakes near the sea, which need to be artificially fed on a constant basis in order to keep their numbers.
Natural Resources
While there are no noteworthy biological products, the system has large veins of valuable ore, ranging from copper to gold. Mines there practically never run dry. It was reported that, after a chunk of metal was dug up and collected, the same metal of a similar size would sprout up the very next day. Thus, for mining companies with the right protection, Yatkaugo is perhaps the very best investment in the world. Often bread is worth its weight in gold, simply because wheat is so rare and gold is so common.
