History
Mordolien's father, Chancellor General King Hectorus, was leading the Keepsake armies in a war against the Nekistani outlanders when he became besieged in a coup. He and Mordolien's brother, Ellander, the bloodright heir to the throne and title of Chancellor General, were killed. It was assumed that Nekistani radicals had murdered him, when in fact this was orchestrated by Maledictus and his connections. Her mother, Queen Camilla Heath, was abducted and is *presumed* dead. Mordolien assumed the throne and military titles, but in the process was defamed by Maledictus, who framed her to be power-hungry and cruel as a result of her brutal warriorship and thus publicly accusing her of regicide. Maledictus used his sway to oust Mordolien from Dragon's Keep in order to assume command of the realm, despite that he has little-to-no military training or experience.
There are numerous detractors among the population who had immense respect for the Cinderfell clan (not the Ashes), but the war-torn times and isolated nature of the kingdom has prevented any real social uprising from manifesting.
Maledictus' was the only other branch of the family, with Hectorus' younger sister Lady Lyndis Cinderfell having wed Lord Pentus Ash. Maledictus had an elder sibling, Frederick Ash. Realizing from an early age that there were a number of suitors in line for the throne before him, Maledictus cleverly found ways to "tragically and accidentally" murder his family. He is the only known surviving heir of the royal bloodline aside from Mordolien (and Camilla), about whom nothing has been known since the ouster.
