The Knights of Holy Judgement

The Knights of Holy Judgment were an order of paladins that faithfully focused on the lawful tenets of their patron deity Tyr.
Much of their energy was devoted to hunting criminals and monsters in order to bring them to justice. In fact, they specialized in the hunting of devils.

History

The Knights of Holy Judgement were initially founded by a group of paladins who worshipped Tyr and created the city of Palanrae. The Knights remained fairly reclusive in their fortress city of Palanrae, secluded on the island of Iptiyar. The Order would quest to destroy evil in the world and help its people in the name of their god Tyr, the god of Law and Justice. One of the founders of the Order, Wulfa, was said to have ascended in the city of Naleppo at the end of a holy quest to banish the evil of Bhaal and kill the god himself. The Knights took the city of Naleppo after this quest and formed another base of operations there and in the city of Heartstone. The King of Dorione before The Conquest was a believer of Tyr himself, and set the precedent of allowing the Knights to operate out of the kingdom itself. During the Grey War, the Knights assisted the Dorione Kingdom in conquering the south in a holy war to stomp out the worship of The Red Queen; The Moon Mistress. As the kingdom grew larger, the king took in the order to assist with the justice system of the empire, making his Head of Justice a member of the Holy Order itself. Since then, pacts of the order spread through the empire, establishing fortresses in cities and across the land for their paladins to recruit, worship, and fight evil.

Tenets of Faith

The Order of the Knights of Holy Judgement tends to attract the paladins who emphasize the "lawful" part of their dedication to Tyr.
To keep Tyr's favor, one must respect fallen enemies, never make sacrifice of a corpse, and keep one's alignment lawful good. Tyr considers slaying agents of evil to be honorable and worthy of the highest praise.
