Location
Located upon an island at the entrance to
Honeyo Bay, Fingerwatch sits at a premier spot for the defense of
Anhara's capital region, the Coquet Heights. To enter Honeyo Bay, and from there attack the largest cities of the nation, one would need to navigate past the east or west of the great tower of Fingerwatch, and somehow avoid detection. The upkeep of this strategic locations falls to
House Castel, lords over the islands of Honeyo Bay, and protectors of the entrance to the Coquet Heights.
History
Constructed early in Anhara's history as a simple lighthouse, Fingerwatch grew with the importance of the capital region. As the center of government migrated from the
Vestrial Tower to
Meridia, and a true capital city sprung up, its protection necessitated the growth of Fingerwatch. From there, it expanded to a truly towering defensive structure, reaching 600 feet above the sea. With five smooth marble sections decreasing in height and width as they rise, at the top is the great fire of Fingerwatch. This massive pyre requires shipments of wood to arrive daily, and the constant tending of a number of
powerful lighthouse keepers in order to prevent smoke from obscuring the flames, depending upon the winds.
The great tower of Fingerwatch has only failed once in protecting Anhara, when during
The Waterspout War a team of
Litoric Marines slipped past silently, swimming all the way to Meridia to destroy warships lying at anchor, before doing the same in
Port Castellion and retreating back past Fingerwatch to the sea. Following this wartime catastrophe, Fingerwatch was upgraded once more, being complimented by additional towers on the five other islands in the bay to more effectively cover the area.
