The Thralashi Empire
The Thralashi Empire are a nomadic group of people who roam the rolling plains, herding cattle on horseback. They are a proud and introverted people, not taking kindly to people who enter their lands uninvited. However those who are invited, will be treated like family. Their Ruler is always known as The Horse Lord, and it is a position that changes hands often, only the greatest horseman is fit to rule the Thralashi. Their bonds with their horses are almost as important as their bonds with other people.
The Thralashi are made up of many smaller tribes, each with its own lands and interests. The tribes are generally friendly but competetive, although there are some deeper rivalries. The tribes generally rule themselves, with the Horse Lords role being to provide a greater stategy.
The position of Horse Lord is not like other rulers, they do not directly command the Thralashi people outside of times of War. They mianly serve as a diplomat, keeping the peace between the tribes, and negotiating better trades deals with other kingdoms.
The Horse Lord is chosen yearly, at a great festival held in the nations capital Thralash. A comptetion is run between the tribes, each entering their best horseman, with the winner taking the crown.
The Thralashi are mostly nomadic people, but do maintain some towns. The towns serve mainly as meeting points for trading, or defence.
