Great Dragonia
This is the original messy outline for what would later be turned into Wyrmland. Many names and historical events have been changed during development.Great Dragonia is a kingdom that has existed on this island for 1300 years, It was named after the great winged creatures that, as legend goes, guided the humans to the island and protected them from invaders for the first 300 years. But that point, 1000 years ago, remains a mystery to scholars, as it is only sung now by bards that the dragons vanished after the great battle of Nixia Gate. Some say that the elder dragons deemed that the humans could it on their own while others (and a minority at that) believe the dragons died off in the same magical plague that has scoured the kingdom for these last 1000 years. If what these rabble-rousers say is true, then there might not be hope to turn the tide against the undead of the Wild. For you see, the humans of Great Dragonia have had to learn quickly to survive this devastating plague without the power and wisdom of their former dragon guardians, they had little protection not the capability to handle thousands of undead outside. Around 365 GD, 65 years into the plague, the Council of Nine, collective rulers of Great Dragonia finally received aid from the Mainland in the form of dwarven slave laborers. The dwarven slaves were tasked with building a series of tall walls enclosing the cities, and some surrounding rural land. Their laborers, while forced, were still the finest dwarven masonry in any land. Each stone was hand carved precisely and expertly and fit together, through the dwarves' advanced techniques, absolutely perfectly. Two walls were built for each city; The outer wall encompassed the whole city, farmland and all, towering 30 feet and as thick as 15 feet. The inner wall, rising 20 feet, surrounds the urban center, as a a fallback position in case the undead ever breached the outer walls. There were only a few minor incidents during construction involving the dwarves being taken by the plague, but by then the humans knew how to deal with undead: cut off their heads and burn it all. So by 400 GD the task was completed and what remained of Great Dragonia finally felt safe from the monsters that howled and moaned from outside the new walls. The Council of Nine began to deal with some new problems that arose from their quarantined situation. Firstly, there was only a finite amount of farmland to feed each city, and while this was enough at the time the walls went up, the growing populace was threatening the long-term food stores.
Chimneys for the underground trains. Smoke is let out through a grate that also protects from zombies getting in.
