Aedian Elections
Every 10 years, each town in Aedan conducts an election, whereby they elect a member of the Aedian parliament.
As well, additional elections can occur at any time, as major decisions in the parliament are put to the people. When major changes are proposed, each adult in the kingdom is allowed to vote to determine whether it should be passed in the parliament or not.
These elections are conducted by a Sensor , who is a trained servant to the crown, who is responsible not just for counting the ballots, but also guaranteeing that the vote is fair and uncorrupted. The primary tool for this is a dye created from the shells of Brightshell Snail. After voting, each person is marked on one of their hands with a dyed stamp, which lasts for several weeks and is very difficult to remove. Each vote has a special stamp/symbol to represent it, thereby allowing the Sensors to determine which votes people have completed.
