Fey Contracts

Although not physically intimidating, it is still advised to be wary with dealing with any Fey due to the potential consequences of a Fey Contract. Through the use of clever wording, a Fey can trick someone into creating a contract with them, which typically is disastrous for the individual, and is very difficult to break. These contracts don't require any signatures nor the understanding of any party, and automatically come into effect. Some examples include:
  • "Can I have your name?" - Anyone who responds affirmatively to this will find themselves without a known name, as the Fey has taken it for themselves.
  • "Do you have any reservations?" - Anyone who responds affirmatively to this will find themselves unable to keep secrets, and are unable to be discrete.
It is uncertain exactly why the Fey create these contracts, but it is generally believed to be either that they get some sort of power or enjoyment from them.   This ability has only been noted in individuals originally from the Feywild.   It is not widely known, but a Fey Contract is broken only when either they fey signatory rescinds the contract, or upon the death of either party. The academic belief behind these severances is that, as the power of the contract comes from The Feywild, which is a plane consisting of pure life, this contract can only be broken by the conduit of that power (i.e. the fey signatory) or through the absence of that power (i.e. the absence of life).
