North Pit

The North Pit is the smallest and deepest of all the dug pits. This was the first mine opened in Kraggenhammen, and the dwarves dug too deep, eventually breaking into The Underdark. Many miners went into the caves, believing that there were untold riches down there, but very few returned. Those that did spoke of strange creatures and plants living down there, with one miner speaking of one large white snake. According to the miner, the snake spoke to him, telling him to go back to his people and to bring more; his hunger was not yet quenched. The Jarl recognized the danger and forbid anyone from entering the underdark. The north pit is currently uninhabited, but the entrance to the underdark is guarded constantly by some of the Jarlsgard.
