The Burnt Wall

Those travelling along The Kingsroad will note that, immediately before arriving at Gracklstugh, the otherwise straight route makes an S-curve into the station. Those curious enough to seek out why will find an irregular metal wall.   The wall itself is approximately 30 m wide and 10 m tall, and consists of interlocking metal shields, which have been flash-welded together. The symbol of the Stone Guard is barely visible on some of them, most of which were destroyed from the welding.   Near the end of construction for the Kingsroad, the dragon Themberchaud rebelled against the city, killed the Deepking, and declared himself ruler. Many duergar escaped the city using the pilot tunnel for the project, angering the dragon. Themberchaud chased after the fleeing citizens, and a group of Stone Guard blocked the escape route with interlocked shields. They held strong through a storm of dragonfire, which burned hot enough to melt their armour together, creating a metal wall with their bodies.   After Gracklstugh was reclaimed, the wall, now known as the "Burnt Wall", decided to keep it as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the revolt, and also as a monument to the courage and strength of the Stone Guard.
