Sanguinator Vine's
A thick deep red barked vine, that starts in a centeralised bush or shrub like structure.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Sanguanator Vine starts as a shallow rooted vine that grows near walkways, trails and waterways. The bush spreads out thick vines that cover as large an area as possible, each of these vines is an individual plant in its own right, with a shared mind in the host like plant. Each vine is covered in tiny hair like protrusions that once rubbed against by a creature with create an anisthetic like substance before grabbling the target with small vines that seek to exsanguinate its victim. Often victims are completely unaware of the protrusions until it is to late.
Genetics and Reproduction
The Plant is an asexual reproducer, with vines being able to recreate a new plant once away from the previous host. This is sometimes the case when larger creatures tear vines off in there attempt to escape the vine.
Growth Rate & Stages
Depending on the prey rate and success of the plants location it can grow quickly, with an initial vine being able to create atleast 3m of vine in a Span, without any need for prey.
Ecology and Habitats
Though it can grow in almost any enviroment, the plant tends to grow near sources of fresh water naturally as these are the optimal prey spots and it easily blends into the sorrunding vegitation.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The plant requires only the oxygenated blood of most creatures, the oxygen and iron in the blood of most creatures allows it to sanguasynthisise and continue its development.
Biological Cycle
The plant is able to enter a sudo hibernation period of around 1 Span if food becomes scare however it is still active in a limited sense beyond this point the plant will begin to starve.
Additional Information
Domestication
The plant is currently being domesticated by a number of peoples across Xihrokash and has seen widespread usage as a trap or detereant around many settlements.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Anesthetic - the bio- toxin used by the plant to prevent to prey from feeling its vine tendrils is a most effective anesthetic for medical procedures as well as in more nefarious activities.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Though the Vine cannot see or hear, it is able to feel due to the tiny hair like protrussions on its bark.
