Mother Caste

The smallest caste, but by far the most important, all Xahains are born of the Mothers. Essentially living baby factories, a mother can be expected to live in almost perpetual pregnancy for their working lives, with the most prolific Mothers enduring 25 or more births in their life. Given the best Xah has to offer, Mothers are revered and held in high esteem by all levels of society; a status due to them because of their unique position.
Mothers are, by necessity, more sedentary than other castes, spending most of their time either pregnant, or recovering from a previous pregnancy. As well as access to the best in medical care, their genes give them the best possible natural ability to grow and deliver the next generation.
