Ninyo Network

The unreliability of advanced processing computers and the enduring risk from the Amnesiac Virus has led to a number of workarounds for the various needs of humanity across Known Space. In the Northup Alliance, specially trained individuals are used where judgement and complex memory retrieval is required, although the process is expensive. Where the process requires just calculations, then electro-mechanical computers are used; whilst large and heavy in power requirements, they relatively quick and free from error.
In the Federation of Xah, the Technical caste has individuals capable of complex and advanced calculations and memory, but for most processing, the Federation uses networks of linked, lobotomised individuals convicted of dissent and other such crimes, using their minds as a biological computer. These are known as Ninyo Networks.
