Anthousa of Zominthos
A celebrated alchemist born during the tumoultuous Dissension Age, Anthousa of Zominthos is best remembered as the inventor of the Tincture of Tongues. She served as the Ascendant of Alchemy in Zominthos's Tower of Tomes from 1085 DX to 1104 DX, when the Tower was evacuated to save its knowledge from the invading Gorgorons during the Second Gorgorian March. Anthousa and her students were able to escape the coming onslaught, sheltered by the followers of Seshet in enclaves hidden within the Teeth of the Stars. There, Anthousa perfected the complicated process of distilling the Tincture, and taught the method to the followers of the Star Counter.
Though she survived the Great Desecration of Zominthos, Anthousa never would see her homeland again. According to records, she weakened considerably during the course of her exile, and died in her sleep in the spring of 1130 DX. A memorial fountain dedicated to her memory was erected in Zominthos's Gorgorian chora in 3998 UX.
More recent scholarship has uncovered a direct link between Anthousa's family line and that of famed explorer Xanthippe the Traveller.
