Helm of Heilaksos

A gold helmet of Naidazian craftsmanship, last seen in the thick of battle during the waning days of the Third Gorgorian March. Much of what is known about the helm can be attributed to contradicting myths and legends, but it is generally agreed upon that the helm was lost sometime before the Exodus of Humanity, and supposedly had the ability to pause time itself.

History

Forged by a human goldsmith whose name has been lost to time, all that is known about the Helm of Heilaksos's origin is that it was created in the human stronghold of Salithos sometime during the Edification Age, prior to the birth of Xanthippe the Traveller. The fabled expolorer's earliest journal makes a reference to seeing the Helm in the Great Temple to Heilaksos at Salithos. It is speculated when not in use, the Helm was stored upon the god's altar for pilgrims to admire.    The Helm was last seen during the Battle of the Red Sands, one of the last conflicts of the Third Gorgorian March. As the tattered Naidazian army fled from the coastal city of Solantium into the forest, the Chosen of Heilaksos used the Helm's power to cover their retreat. The Chosen, whose name and fate are unknown, stopped time and walked through the Gorgoron front line, pausing only to slit the throat of every polemarch she came across and setting fire to supply wagons, sowing chaos across the army and buying time for the human forces to escape. There is no record of the fate of this Chosen or the Helm following the battle.
