Korranberg Chronicles - Theatrics and Mothers
5th of Aryth, 999

Oh lordy my sweet darlings, you know that saying history repeats itself? Well by the gods that almost certainly happened to y’all favorite writer! Could y’all believe that yours truly was almost a prisoner yet again but to Giants this time! I swear I went the entire war and not once did it ever come possible for me to become a prisoner but being in Xen'drik I guess it was just bound to happen!   But y’all should have seen the elaborate ruse we put on to escape, well from what I heard it was very theatrical. Nathaniel put on a show with his magic showing multiple illusions of a chucky green dragon we’ve encountered but I must admit that Tabitha and Damian really stole it when it came to their theatrics because even though I was over 500 feet away I could still hear their screams of fear from this illusionary dragon as they were pleading for their lives.   Why may you ask, was I so far from the group during such a show? Well someone had to release our boat from its magical container and sail it so the others could jump on and of course I was the man for the job! Can always depend on me to get the job done! Who ever said a blind man can’t sail a ship never met the likes of me before!   Though sadly our little act did end up taking a bit of a toll on our lovely new ship, not by my hand may I say. However, thanks to our dear friend Zavian, such a lad, and his wonderful lessons I was able to use my new skills to repair our girl! Not only that but Damian has come up with some add-on ideas for the girl that soon I’ll be trying my hand at coming to reality.   We weren’t the only ones that were full surprises this week either, I’ve gotten the most wonderful letter back from back home. That is right y’all mama wrote me a letter and thanks to some amazing magic I was able to hear her voice for the first time in years. It just warmed my heart, even more so when she called Nathaniel a “hoity toity elf” when I told her about everything involving him. Of course, like all mothers she was already asking about if Nathaniel was keen on adoptions and asking about grandbabies. The man and I have only been together for a bit over a week like we’ve had those discussions yet! Though it was definitely a nice needed laugh and reminder that no matter if I’m continents away she will always be my mother. Till next week my dears!

Korranberg Chronicles - Ends and New Beginnings
26th of Sypherons, 999

Well dearies I don’t fully know where to start when it comes to this past week, so much has happened and most of it within a matter of days. For one I had to say goodbye to a friend I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to. What y’all don’t know about is that Damian had a friend who had been with us since Stormreach, Salvatore. Now Salvatore was not someone I could have ever imagined myself being acquaintances with let alone friends and as most of you know I am quite a friendly guy who can make friends wherever I go.   Salvatore and I grew up on opposite sides of a long going conflict however, after spending these past few months with Salvatore I’ve come to really learn about not judging everything based on history, that it’s a person’s actions that you make your judgements on and I’ve come to consider Salvatore a close friend. To see him leave, though there was sorrow I could also sense some joy as well, he did make the most of his time with us and he for sure will be missed.   And yet a couple of days after Salvatore’s passing guess who decided to break their 32 day streak of not talking to me? Good old Nathaniel of course. I’m gonna be honest with y’all I had no idea how that conversation was going to go or what it was fully going to be about. Shit the last time we had a one on one conversation I had decided to take a leap of faith and offered to be a person he could fully depend on only for him to choose someone else, apparently the gesture had gone over his head by the way. So to say I had such mixed feels about this conversation is an understatement.   Though that man utterly shocked me when he decided to not beat around the bush and wouldn’t you believe it folks not only did he admit that he actually does have feelings for your beloved columnist but wants to actually act on them y’all! And by “act on them” folks he has asked for me to be in a relationship with him. Now I did have my reservations because of those whole lying thing but he has reassured me that when it came to those moments we had shared that every bit of them were honest and I don’t know I could just feel it in my gut that he was being honest about it. So, it looks like this half-orc is off the market folks for we are going to try and explore these feelings we have for one another. Weird to admit this but this will be my first relationship y'all. Wish us luck dears!

Korranberg Chronicles: Confessions and Contemplation
19th of Sypherons, 999

Oh, dearies I don’t know what to fully think about tonight, Nathaniel decided to finally come clean and tell the group that he had been lying to us this entire time. I just don’t know what to think about the entire confession. I consider myself to be an honest person and because I am so honest with others I hope that they would be honest with me in return.   Now I understand the fear behind the initial lie but what I’m struggling with is how long it took for Nathaniel to admit the lie. We’ve been traveling together for about six months now, I thought I was showing him that I was someone he could trust and be confined into but I guess I was wrong.   Again, like I said it is hard for me to wrap my head around it when Nathaniel was there with me during one of my lowest points when I accidentally took a life during the fights in the Red Ring. He didn’t let me go through that all by myself, even when I insisted to be alone. This confession just makes you wonder what else was a lie, perhaps everything was a lie. He claims he was as true to himself as he could be but again it’s just hard to believe.   I mean before traveling back to Stormreach I had put myself out there to help him with what was going on with him and was utterly shut down. Following that he didn’t speak to me for those thirty days of travel other than the Grillion attack. Honestly folks, I just don’t know how I feel about the entire thing but like always I’ll try my best to keep you updated.   In other news, it felt so good to be back in the city for the time however, received some other unexpected news that will probably have me not fully revealing my location in the column. I’m quite shocked that certain people are reading this column but the dedication is impressive.   Though with all that set-aside, I’m going to go use Faron’s birthday gift tonight that she had so kindly put together with the girls during our trip and get together with a few friends to just use the night to decompress and relax. So, until then my dears!

Korranberg Chronicles: Just a Feeling of Hiraeth
12th of Sypheros, 999

There is a strange sensation that comes over me whenever approaching a destination, we are nearly at Stormreach and I can’t help but find myself thinking of home. Perhaps it’s that lingering dream I have from time to time, sailing back to the City of Stilts and making my way back to the Shadow Marches. Almost every time we are near to port I feel that pull to home, that dream in the back of my mind just nagging to become a reality. Though this one seems a bit stronger than normal, perhaps it’s because my birthday is coming up.   To help with those longing feelings of home I always find myself making some of my mother’s recipes. Smelling her cooking just brings back childhood memories and her kind words. I’d be closing my eyes and hear her voice telling me to not over stir the pot or be careful when cutting those vegetables.   I don’t know if I have ever told any of yall before but when I lost my eyesight my mother was the one to help me relearn this world. She always joked about how she was blind at night anyways so who better than her to teach her son how to listen to what is around you and navigate this world with all your other senses?   My mother was a very interesting teacher, figured you’d learn from experience, kind of person and boy do I have the scars to prove it. I’ve lost track of how many trees and branches I ran right into or holes I’ve fallen in, though to be honest I still sort of do that now but it’s not as bad as before. But I still appreciated how mama taught me and wouldn’t have changed it any other way.   However, with all this reminiscing I can’t help but think about the fates and what they have brought me so far. This journey, this group. My mother is a full blown believer in the fates and it has most definitely rubbed off on me if it hasn’t been clear so far. As always fate always has me curious about the future. Toodaloo my darlings!

Korranberg Chronicles: Untamable Land
5th of Sypheros, 999

Why hello there darlings! I’ve realized something when it comes to writing my column, it is quite hard to write what I normally write about when I am surrounded by constant wilderness and not a lot of people. Now this isn’t me complaining about being out in nature, y’all know me I love being out in nature however I do miss interacting and getting to know new people.   Though that doesn’t mean I haven’t gotten to know the visitors we have for the time. After talking with Clyde I’ve realized that him and I have quite a bit in common, both of us didn’t have much of a care when it came the politics of the world so instead of being forced to do something we would clearly not excel at we were sent out into the world to be far more of use.   Elinore on the other hand has grown up around ships her entire life, so it’s no surprise that she fell in love with them. I mean I can for sure see the appeal when it comes to sailing and listening to her work you can clearly tell the passion behind it all.   Like other explorers in Xen’drik they are trying their best to map out this extraordinary land. I’ve listened to Damian and Clyde talk and it seems like neither of the maps they have made match up. You can almost respect the land for that, refusing to be mapped out. Makes one think that it wants to stay wild and untamed. Gotta respect it for that.   Perhaps it will take a resilient kind of person to one day make this land but like always we’ll see what the fates provide. Till next time, dearies!

Korranberg Chronicles: Cock Block by a Girallon
26th of Rhaan, 999

Hello there my wee darlings! You know fate is one fickle creature who loves to just dangle things in front of your face to the point that just as you’re about to reach out and grab it fate pulls it away. Spending days on end in a very small boat, and when I mean small yall I mean it’s like a 30-footer. It's near impossible to get some privacy and don’t even think about doing any additional activities either.   So of course just as the fates have it that the first night we can rest on land and get some darn needed privacy, especially with Zavian, a Gargantuan Girallon attacked us. I mean we had heard about a giant white ape on the continent but what are the odds to interact with such a creature at that very moment? As I said fate can be a fickle creature. Gotta admit though fighting that Girallon was no joke, it was one of those fights where you need to retreat before anyone else gets hurt or worse killed. I’m glad we were able to get away without any casualties and minimal damage to our boat.   It will likely take us a couple of days to get a safe distance from the Girallon, I mean from what I was told it seemed to move quite freely and could possibly keep up with our little boat. Though I’ll be honest with yall when we do reach land again I will have never run as fast off a boat as I will in my life just so I can make sure nothing is going to interrupt Zavian and me.   Even then there seem to be several days more of travel ahead of us before getting back to Stromreach, can’t wait to see how fickle the fates will be. Till then my dears!

Korranberg Chronicles: Learning New Skills
19th of Rhaan, 999

Well hello there again my wee darlings! I’ll have to admit these last few days were just not my best however it seems that fate has smiled kindly on us and we found three marooned sailors. What are the odds that I was in desperate need of some distraction and three of them just walked out of the woods? Isn’t it just interesting how certain things in life just work out?   Their captain, Clyde, seems to be a man more of business than anything else; however, his navigator Elinore and shipwright Zavian are far more friendly if you get my drift. Elinore is definitely the more fun outgoing one of the bunch but there is just something about Zavian that just pulls you right to him, must be that glorious beard I’m sure of it.   So imagine my surprise when realizing that he was more than willing to share his skill of carpentry with me. Apparently, you don’t need eyes when it comes to working with wood, who knew? I’ll have to admit I’m quite excited to learn a new skill, especially if the group decides to keep traveling via boat. It might be good to have someone on the ship to repair any damages we may get, even more so if they keep letting me steer.   I can definitely see the appeal in it all, after just a few hours of training I can see how calming it is working with wood and how you use the majority of your senses as well. Zavian is for sure an excellent teacher and there are moments I find myself distracted, lost in hearing his passion. Who knew someone could talk about wood so much, though granted the conversations do steer towards a different kind of wood if yall knew me?   More to come as always my dears! I am quite interested to see what the fates have in store for me, for us. Till then!

Korranberg Chronicles Vol. 2: Strength and Remembrance
22nd – 28th of Erye, 999

Hello, my wee darlings! I do have to admit how much I enjoy being out at sea again. Feeling the cool misty wind whisper past you like a secret lover as the salty air fills your lungs accompanied by the sound of crashing waves. It really is an experience for the senses, even for those lacking sight. However, I’m not here to tell you about seafaring life but instead dear readers I would like to write about this extraordinary woman I have met who too is seeking passage to Stormreach. I am utterly amazed at how she has not only handled herself during this trip but with her past, she is truly a strong and passionate woman. She is the former captain of Cyre's Fifth Infantry, the Queen’s Forward Blades, a Mrs. Zahra ir’Faldren, the widow of the late Egan d'Cannith.   During our travels across the Thunder Sea Zahra has been accompanying Gregory and me for our morning workout routines. It is during those lovely sweaty mornings that Zahra graced me with stories of her time during the war, while she was in Valenar. She told me about the squads under her command, about the bonds they shared, how much they needed to trust one another, and how their lives depended on each other while fighting against half-elven warbands. She particularly told me about a few Lieutenants that raised in the ranks alongside her. Lieutenants Theo and Bo Rees, Lieutenant Mikaela Wilkinson, and Lieutenant Caden King.   Lieutenants Theo and Bo Rees were twin halflings who always had a knack for sneaking in and out of things undetected which caught the eye of a specific general who quickly recruited them to the Queen's Forward Blades around the same time Zahra had joined. Just by the way Zahra’s voice sounded while talking about them made me want to smile, the joy the brothers brought her with the shenanigans they used to play on the squads in between missions. She said they always had laughter in their hearts and a smile not too far behind, trying their best to live each day to the fullest.   Lieutenant Mikaela Wilkinson was a fifth-generation Shifter legacy, her family and her found it was a privilege to survive in the military. Like her father before her Mikaela specialized in distant scouting, using that wonderful eagle eye of her to help with scouting missions. Though she wasn’t only known for being able to shoot the wings off a fly, Mikaela was also known for her harmonica playing. Zahra said that the way she used to play would touch your soul and bring back memories that were long forgotten. A sound I surely wished I could have heard and seen what memory it would have called forth.   Finally, Lieutenant Caden King a Warforged who surprised people with their knowledge of the land. They made it look easy being able to memorize not only hundreds of maps but the topography as well. Caden took advantage of the land around them, knew where it would be safe to camp, where they’d be able to hide themselves away from other parties, and which places would be best to avoid an ambush. Who knows how many lives Caden saved due to their knowledge, and I know for sure that Zahra was grateful to them for that.   Sadly, all the lives of the Queen’s Forward Blades, including Theo, Bo, Mikaela, and Caden were lost during the Mourning. Zahra was the only survivor due to having to retire from the military due to her marriage to Mr. d’Cannith. It was due to how Zahra talked about them, how she carries them with her every day that I was compelled to share them with you dear readers. Though don’t pity Zahra, a woman of her strength, her fortitude will always keep moving forward, always carrying on to what is next. I just hope that Stormreach could bring her the peace she had so obviously earned. Until then my darlings!

Korranberg Chronicles Vol. 1: Something on the Horizon
15th – 21st of Erye, 999

Hello, my wee darlings! It looks like your favorite blind columnist is off on another adventure and heading out of not only Zilargo but Khorvaire. I have hopped on to a lovely ship called the Xen'drik Express and we are going to sail across the Thunder Sea to Stormreach. That is right dears you read me right, I did say 'we'. I will not be traveling across the sea alone; a few other members of the Chronicle will be joining me as well. Now, why would we be going to the homeland of giants you ask? Well for the thrilling stories, the wonderful people, and the heart-racing adventure of course! Only the best for you.   Well, readers can you guess who one of the members from the Chronicle will be joining me out in the field for once? Your favorite cartoonist who is near and dear to all our hearts, Faron! Of course, like true Faron fashion while making our way to the Xen'drik Express she accidentally let me run into a tree due to what she claims was a very eye-catching bird that she just had to draw. I will let you be the judge of this bird dear readers for I have no doubt it will end up in one of her fantastic comics. Though how could we ever bear any ill will at Faron, you are right we cannot. She is truly a wonderful person and I for one am excited she will be joining us on this adventure.   However, my darlings it seems one of the members of the Chronicle could not wait before making their intentions known, let's call him Nathaniel*. We were barely into our second day of travel before Nathaniel ambushed me on the deck of the ship with a face-grabbing, jaw-dropping kiss. Naturally, Nathaniel ended up claiming it was a mistake in identity, that he did not mean to but, come on only one of us is blind. I believe that Mr. Nathaniel had one of those glorious twenty seconds of courage and decided to act on it before his nerves got the best of him. Though I will have to admit it was a genuinely nice kiss so we will see what the future will bring and if Nathaniel gets another twenty seconds of courage.   As for the other three traveling with sweet Faron and me, Damian*, Tabitha*, and Teagan*, I honestly can’t wait to get to know them better partially for my sake but more for you dear readers. What I do know though is that Teagan is not much for talking or should I say talking out loud. It is strange having someone connect with you mentally and share their inner voice with you, especially when you’re someone like me when hearing is your main sense. Tabitha has the most unusual yet dazzling silhouette I have seen throughout my travels by far. And her choice of companion is interesting, who knew hummingbirds could be so loud, but I guess when your wings are beating over a mile a minute you would be too. And for Damian, though he is new to the Chronicle apparently this isn’t the first paper he has worked for. However, he must be a hard worker staying up to the wee hours of the night and being utterly exhausted that it’s hard for him to wake up in the morning. Poor lad.   Now I could not end this article without telling you about a man I do have my eye on during this lovely ship ride. Another passenger on the ship, a wonderful knight of the Silver Flame, Gregory*. Oh, how I am beginning to look forward to my morning workouts with Gregory and definitely cannot wait to get to know him more. Though he is a bit of a tough nut to crack. Of course, you will be the first to know dear readers! Keep a lookout for my next column Xen’Drik Edition for more is sure to come. Until then my darlings!   *Names have been changed to either protect their identity or due to the lack of a Media Consent Release Form.
