Maeran Mendyrian, Thaendyr's Rest
Combining the functions of consulate, inn, and temple, Thaendyr’s Rest is the city’s little piece of Aerenal. Located near the wall between the Harbor ward and the Graystone district, the Rest caters to Aereni and their companions. Maeran Mendyrian is the resident Undying Court priest and de facto consul and runs the Rest with her assistant Thaera.
Nasir told Maeran that he has no memory and is seeking answers, asking if the Undying Court can help him. After several days, she calls him back with this response (takes place Nymm 7):
Nasir Toldan left Aerenal for the last time a century ago, having broken ties with clan and Court. There are those on the Council with the skills to heal a shattered mind, but this service is not offered without cost. For the Council to act on his behalf, he must act on behalf of Aerenal. The foundations of our great nation were founded by two siblings: Aeren, who forged the way for us to leave the wretched land of giants and make our own path, and her brother, Aranthir, who led the forces that held our captors at bay. Neither lived to set foot off this land. The Council wishes for them to be brought to Aerenal, that they may lay in state and inspire our people in the time ahead. Maeran was stationed here several years ago, as she had an interest in elven history. Explored some of the features of Stormreach. One night, as she passed by one of the circles of stone, she saw an image of a crowd of elves, half dressed for battle, half seeming to carry what they could. In the center, she saw two embracing. They seemed familiar to her. She kept going back, studying the image. In the past two years, she has only seen the this image five times.
- Two siblings matching the description of Aeren and Aranthir: elves resembling winter eladrin, with a bluish tint to their skin and pale hair, in fine armor, wearing matching pendants.
- It is said that the siblings were once slaves in the giant capitol of Ka’Marqan, over 40,000 years ago. They escaped and eventually found themselves in the lost Feyspire of Silver and Bone. After proving themselves, the Queen gifted them each a token to mark them as her champions: black diamonds shaped like eyes, to guide their way.
- Over the next several centuries, they infiltrated giant cities, fomenting rebellion in the captured elves who dreamed of a great destiny, sneaking out who they could and bringing them to the Queen.
- When the time was right, Aranthir gathered all the greatest warriors to take on Cul’Sir’s forces, and Aeren led the rest in the opposite direction, following a vision of a beautiful new land. Aranthir's body will presumably be found at the site of the battle between the elves and giants. The battlefield would be massive, but she is not sure where it occurred. A woman named Alice, in the Harbor district, may be able to provide some insight. Aeren was not quite able to make it to the coast; records say that her body wasted away from some strange disease and the elves were unable to take her further.
