Session 92 - Something Rotten in Last Chance
Sol, Eyre 8
The Scoops spend the day on Davosa, looting bodies, harvesting from the stone giants, and collecting all sorts of gear from the Riedran settlement and ships. They cast spells into their new gems and dole them out. Barzin contacts the Queen to let her know they were successful.

Aldritch plane shifts the group to Syrania for SHOPPING! ...with Barzin and the hut following behind them. Aldritch trades for a set of robes of the archmagi from The Librarian (who is pleased they were able to shelve Illaria's book, and eventually they will be able to shelve Aldritch's Faron trades for a ring of evasion; they trade for a physician's pendant for Tozi; and Cian trades for a staff of striking.
They plane shift back to the feyspire, just a short journey from the Queen's throne room. That evening, Aldritch scries on Shai, who is at a forest encampment, obviously having been in fights, but generally ok. He scries on Tyrosian-Baed, who is sleeping in a forest; he can hear running water in the distance. Aldritch and Cian test the dream spell; there don't seem to be any creatures watching, just chaos beyond the dreamscape he created. Seemingly safe, Aldritch casts the spell on Cian to dream Phaedo and Faron to dream Twinkletoes. Phaedo relays that all of House Vadalis enclave is dead, and by taking down the wards, they accidentally released a mutated, highly intelligent T-rex; it has gone to Stormreach. Phaedo and co are heading to Last Chance; if the Scoops want updates on the Stormreach situation, leadership is in Last Chance coordinating efforts between Phaedo's group, Tyrosian-Baed, and the ships that managed to leave Three Barrel Cove. Twinkletoes tells Faron that his life has been chaos since he met her, but he's also become more capable of dealing with the chaos. He seems more sure of himself. He will relay Faron's message about the sahuagin.
Zol, Eyre 10
Faron asks the cards if the sahuagin attack in the next 3 days (including today), and pulls the pentacles reversed (no).
They are at the Feyspire, need to get to Last Chance, and maybe look for a way to look for Grir. The Queen possesses Barzin and tells them Aeren has been buried at the Worldtree; Barzin can take care of himself from here. The Scoops head to the Worldtree, dig up Aeren, respectfully cut off a finger, and rebury her. The finger is sent to Esme, who sends a message back that "we will not forget what you have done for us."
With that, Tozi teleports the group near Last chance and they disguise the hut for the night, just in case.
Aldritch casts dream on Morgan to contact Grir. He notices a difference in her, the eidolon. She tells him about the troubles in Stormreach and he seems sad but otherwise unaffected. His mate, Aciriyar, loved what is now Stormreach, and the people there. She made him promise to take care of the place - and he did, for many, many centuries. But even he could only watch the people tear themselves down so many times; he used to try to help, but now, when he senses the troubles begin, he takes care of who he can - the clan of kobolds. Perhaps it is caused by Sakinnirot's influence, but the Overlord couldn't be free. When Morgan insists, telling him about the prophecies from Azalakardon, he agrees to help in Stormreach; it is what Aciriyar would want. When she asks about a key mentioned in a prophecy, he tells her that keys open and close things; the Scoops recently closed a gate, and Morgan took the eidolon from Dal Quor. Not even the most powerful creatures - giants, dragons, and couatl - could kill the Overlords, just seal them. Vvaraak was the most knowledgeable on how to seal entrances to Eberron from Dal Quor; perhaps she could help to seal the Overlord once again. She asks about the Branch of the Worldtree and Grir flips through the massive tome on his back, past drawings of gold, gems, swords, armor, and wands, and finally gets to a drawing of the Branch; he's been keeping it safe for the Queen; he can't give it to Morgan in the dream, but next time they physically meet, he will pass it on. Morgan shows Grir the eidolon; in respect, Grir transforms into an emerald greatwyrm and nods his head to them. He then bids Morgan good night and ends the dream.
Wir, Eyre 11
Morgan (with the dragon's permission) immediately tells the group Grir is an emerald greatwyrm; Aciriyar was his mate. he's a sad boy, but he's willing to help. And Narhethi may be the key?
They make the journey to Last Chance, Aldritch scrying on Tyrosian-Baed as they go. He is able to see the dragon in battle; the drow and Stormreachers seem to be holding back the blackscales, but the dragon's breath weapon is causing problems. Later, he sees the dragon and his forces retreating south.
They arrive at Last Chance, the small walled inn and farm now dwarfed by the tent city around it. Refugees are either days away fighting or here, doing everyday tasks or preparing for a fight. The chicken hut quickly gains attention, and they are met by Kurn d'Velderan, who escorts them into the walls - past Hular and others working with adamantine, and Carlos taking herbs into another building - and into a meeting room, covered in correspondence and maps. They are joined by Viceroy Morian Shol d'Phiarlan, and Kurn goes to get Varen Lassite and Satrana Sel Shadra. At their questioning, the Viceroy tells them that their forces, allied with the drow, are holding well against Tyrosian-Baed and his blackscale lizardfolk; they have numbers on their side; the draconic forces have adopted a tactic of attacking one area while a smaller force flies to another to try to wreak havoc and kidnap hostages, so they have split their forces into three in response. In other conditions, they may have defeated Tyrosian-Baed, but they suspect a saboteur has been tampering with protions, making them less effective - though Saral and the House Jorasco members in charge of potions insist nothign is amiss on their end. A few minutes pass before Kurn returns, with Varen's voice calling out that he still has a bottle of his finest kuryeva, for just such an occasion as this--
But as he steps into the room and into range of Faorn's fragment of elder starlight, the hand holding the bottle twists around to face the opposite direction, and orange and black fur pushes through his skin. A rakshasa! "Ah, it's been a good run, but it looks like my fun here has come to an end."
