    The Fabrication
    Era beginning/end

In the beginning, there were the Cardinal Gods of The Known. These gods sat in the Void; The Unending Expanse and all was right. They held balance amongst themselves, and yet something was missing, a purpose beyond their mere existence, they wished to create, they wished to give life. Umos the God of Law and Creation who with his infinite strength took hold of stardust and meteor and crafted a barren canvas of a world. Atia the Goddess of Nature and Death created the vast expanse of forest, blistering cold mountains, brutal sand-covered wastelands, and of the harrowing depths oceans. And finally, Yton, God of Knowledge and the Arcane created life, in its entire splendor, Humans, Dwarves, Elves, etc. Soon this world would be known as Xinithia, by those who inhabit it. And together the Gods crafted a seed, one of impregnable strength and power, and planted it in the heart of this new world, on the continent known as Cordillum, that housed the city of Pearl-Coast. From this seed, the Soul Tree sprouted, and the magic within its roots was so strong that the earth surrounding it hung in the air, floating with majestic waterfalls that roll off the side of these glorious edifices. And this would mark the beginning of the First Age.

The Second Age

2488 4591

Having many more first-hand accounts to pull information from, the Second Age was when the Lords of Catastrophe first appeared in the world, and the War of Calamity began.

    Birth of Catastrophe
    Disaster / Destruction

Where they came from is unknown, but in the birth of the Second Age, came beings of unparalleled magical prowess and strength. These seven individuals would one day come to be known as the Lords of Catastrophe, for everywhere their footfalls were heard, pain and suffering was soon to follow. Over the centuries of the Second Age, the Lords would create ferocious aberrations, and monstrosities to terrorize the peoples of Xinithia. This would ultimately lead to the destruction of PearlCoast and the creation of the Obsidian Spears, (large black towers meant to siphon the magical power from the Soul Tree). But their plans were thwarted when, with all of their strength, the Gods uprooted the Soul Tree and placed it within Thessia. To protect the tree, the Gods tore the earth asunder creating mountain ranges that would surround the tree, this new landmark would come to be known as the Titans Ridge. With that, the towers siphoned the lands of Cordillum, leaving the majority of the land, a wasteland of dead trees, and the earth split open releasing its magma across the once lush fields in the form of massive volcanoes. The Lords rallied for a last-ditch effort to strike at the Gods, but they sorely underestimated the strength of Atia, Umos, and Yton. Together the gods smote the land on which they stood, and with that, they were defeated, but they were not dead, for they had grown too powerful. So with this knowledge in hand, the gods enlisted their chosen champions to keep watch over the Lords, wherever they would banish them to. And after great consideration, it was decided that they would be cast away across the different Planes, which Planes, in particular, is unknown, and there they remain to this day.

    Heavy is The Crown
    Cultural event

After centuries of political issues between the Tethyians, and the surface dwellers, peace was found. This peace was solidified when Arthur Ulogath, son of the King of Tethys was formally indicted as the sole heir to the throne of Voniel. But this was not merely decided upon, Arthur would face a trial to earn the crown. His test, to slay a Dragon and stop the mad cult that worshipped it. But he did not expect him to do so alone, and so he enlisted the help of two traveling adventurers to aid him. Anamnesis the Tiefling Bard, who had gained her renown partially due to her survival. And Crags the Goblin Ranger, accompanied by his loyal beast, Crab. Together the small party traveled to the Shadow Lands on Cordillum and vanquished the Red Dragon. Upon arrival to Voniel, Arthur was rewarded with the knowledge that when King Richter passed from this world or stepped down, he would succeed him as King. And thus is what so, that in the Second Age for the first time in notable history a member outside of the royal bloodline took the throne of Voniel.

    The End of Dragons
    Extinction

Without so much as a word, one day all of Dragon-kind just disappeared off the face of the world. This would mark the end of the Second Age, when prayed to, asking about what had happened to our winged allies, the Gods gave no answer, they remained silent. To this very day, there have been no recorded sightings of Dragons of neither metallic nor chromatic origin, many theorize that the gods removed them from this world under the pretense that if they could have been corrupted once, they could be once again, and who knows what kind of disaster that would breed? But who knows, maybe there are still some among us, one can only wonder where they went...

The Third Age

4592 6271

Also known as the Age of Guidance, the Third Age was a period of enlightenment, after quite a long period of dismay due to the Lords of Catastrophe and the terrors they unleashed upon the world. But with a light touch, and guiding hand, the Gods led the peoples of Xinithia through these trials.

    The Divide
    Celestial / Cosmic

Much to the surprise of all the peoples of Xinithia, after an extended period of close communication with the Gods, no one expected what came next. In the year 1679, 3.A. when followers of the gods would pray, instead of hearing the voices of the Gods they had become so familiar with, many were surprised to hear nothing, silence. Those in dire need of guidance rather than hear the voice of their god, felt the presence, and recognition of their god, but were not given clear answers, nor were their prayers answered. It is still speculated what created this divide between the peoples of Xinithia and the Gods. But nonetheless, life went on, and people learned to make their way without the constant aid of the Gods. Perhaps that is what they wanted us to learn? To stand on our own two feet, without celestial aid, without their help. Who can say?   Regardless this is what brought about the end of the Third Age, and this momentous event was called The Divide.

The Fourth Age

6272 8675

Known more commonly as the Age of Innovation, the Fourth Age brought forth many advancements into the world, in the form of the Warforged (constructs capable of higher understanding and consciousness) and a multitude of other magically enhanced tools, and objects. Though not all accepted this, the King of Ruto, located on the continent of Dobro, deemed these as "dangerous" and potential threats to their way of life, and thusly had them outlawed.

    A New Kind of Life
    Technological achievement

On this day, Dazden Palefinger would create the first Warforge, who would go on to make everyone wonder, if constructs were capable of higher understanding? Of feeling emotion? The answer was a unanimous no. But in the eyes of a Warforged it was different they could feel emotions, pain, etc.. This gave the world something new to consider, what was life? Was it merely experienced by those of organic means, or is consciousness life? The ability to think and form memories and bonds. These lines of thinking led the King of Voniel at the time to declare them as their own species and demanded that they be seen and treated no differently than any other man, woman, or child. In later years this would be revoked by another, King Deidrik Geldarak, who sought to use the Warforged as soldiers for a war against the Valero-Lok against their will. But after his dethroning, and creation of the Exalted Council, the following Sovereign, Uhlia Reinhardt reinstated that Warforged were not slaves to anyone. And with the aid of the Council, she ensured that their freedom would never be questioned again.   Within the lands of Dobro, the lines are muddled but as long as a Warforged doesn't make any trouble, there will be no action taken against them. That said, there is nothing stopping the guards, or even ordinary people from "dismantling" the "human-shaped-husks" that blindly, and ignorantly wander Dobro, unknowing of the danger.

    A Great Way to Travel
    Technological achievement

Within the years to come the creation of Silverstone Railway would come to be. The Exalted Council and the peoples of Thessia took advantage of the insurgence of artificers and their desire to create and innovate the world, were happy to see a more secure and safe way for people to travel, in the form of the first-ever Lightning Rail. It would trail the coasts of Everdrift, weave through the mountain passes of Var Dorum, and cross the fields near Hazelmire, to give a few examples. It would go on to be the fastest method of travel, taking one clear across the continent in a matter of weeks, wherein it would have taken anyone months to do so before. For this reason, it became the best way to quickly transport items from location to location with ease, and in less time than on horseback or caravan.    Dobro sees Thessia's advancements as unnecessary and an insult to the magic the gods bestowed upon them, twisting it and manipulating it in unnatural ways. The more advancements made in Thessia the more uneasy the people of Dobro became, due to the fearmongering of their leaders. They would insist to the people that these advancements would be how the Lords of Catastrophe would return to the world and that they must not stray from the only "pure" path of life, unobstructed by such things.

The Fifth Age

8676 10154

The current Era of Xinithia, the Fifth Age has had very little to contribute to major change.

    An Approaching Storm
    Military action

In the most recent years, following the attempted assassination of the elected Sovereign of Voniel, within the continent of Thessia, Edgar Norwood II. It is believed that this assassination was orchestrated and enacted on behalf of the King of Ruto, Ruler of Dobro, Caden Graham. This has launched the two nations into war, but while many question the purpose of it, others claim that fighting in the name of their chosen Sovereign is what is right when his life is threatened by "the enemy".
