Decapitation

Decapitation is the removal of the head from the rest of the body, and is primarily used as a form of torture on prisoners of war and convicted criminals. It can also be caused by accidents.

DEFINITION & EFFECTS

Decapitation severs the head from the rest of the body, rendering the head (and all associated mechanisms) no longer functioning. Decapitation does not kill a robot instantly, as all of their vital, life-sustaining processes are located in the chest. The disconnecting of the head from the body removes the ability to see, intake energy, vocalize/speak, control their limbs. They are however completely functional when it comes to thoughts and being aware of tactile stimulis. The robot usually remains alive for a few weeks to a few months before succumbing to energy depletion ('starvation').   It’s possible for a robot to remain alive following decapitation if supplied energy by an external source. However their quality of life would be very poor as they cannot see, speak, move, or hear.   There has been research into the possibility of restoring a decapitated robot’s sight, speech, and/or hearing through the use of external devices. Vocal processor & audial (hearing) restoration has been the main focus, and there are currently two devices capable of giving them back some ability to communicate. The Vocalizer and Wave Analyzer connect to the vocal processor and sound processor respectively and allows the robot to hear and communicate in the form of beeps as a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’.

HISTORY & USE

Decapitation has been used in the past by all nations at some point time, but is currently outlawed in most nations in the present day. Nations that still allow decapitation as a method of torture/execution are the Comine Republic, Dismantler Kingdom, S'Irez, Mira, and Silass.   (tba)
