Prostitute

A prostitute or escort (cmētz chepzi in Sey) is a person paid to perform sexual acts and services. A prostitute may work independently or in a business place dedicated to sexual services, called a Brothel.

LEGALITY

Some nations on Xon outlaw any form of prostitution or paid sex work. Others allow it only if initiated by the prostitute. And others allow it regardless and without restriction. Legality varies by nation and sometimes by state and/or city. As with brothels, some nations may allow independent prostitution but not organized sexual activity places, such as a brothel, and vice versa.

Seya

All forms of sex work are illegal in Seya. However underground and illicit brothels and prostitution are still rampant. Authorities mostly turn a blind eye to it, as even high-ranking officials will visit brothels.

Akol

Organized places dedicated to sexual services (brothels) are outlawed in Akol. However, prostitutes are free to solicit their services independently. Akol sees this as a way to prevent abuse by pimps and business owners while still giving people freedom.

STIGMA

As with its legality, the stigma surrounding prostitution varies by nation. Most nations regard prostitution as a shameful and dishonourable profession. In some places it may not even be recognized as a legitimate profession, and thus doesn’t have the rights and protections a ‘regular’ job would have.
