The Cabal

Long ago lived a King of a grand empire.  He ruled with a firm hand, and a fair amount of fear.  However, while he could defeat armies, and insurgents trying to take his crown, he could not defeat time.  He could not escape his own mortality.  Fear finally gripped the cruel King, and he brought his court wizard and spymaster to him to explain his plan.  Together they would find the means, and ascend beyond their mortal forms.  The Wizard and Spymaster searched for years, but finally discovered the means to change their fates.  A ritual of divine gore, one lost to history, brought about the death of an ancient god, and the birth of three new ones.
