Lavron, the city of SIlver
Demographics
The vast majority of the inhabitants of the town belong to the Oronai ethnicity, since the are had been part of the Kingdom of Oronia since the very beginning. Most of them work on the silver mines that are the reason of the wealth of this settlement. But around the miners a network of taverns, hospitals, temples have been created all benefiting from the ever expanding town.
Government
The town is ruled as any other Oronai settlement, by a council of 100 representatives,of 5 for each of the districts in which the town is divided. After the Council is stablished, from these 100 representatives 3 supreme councelers are elected, one of them acting as King's deputy or representative in the settlement, a naming which has to be confirmed by the Oronai King himself. This city council is n charge of the main aspects of the city. From guild regulations to public works, create and collect the taxes or ennacting new laws.
Defences
Due to its important role as one of the main mining cities in the Kingdom, Lavron is heavily guarded by around 300 infantry soldiers and another 300 cavalry. Near the town, around 10 kms lies the fortress of Kamylion, which has another 4000 phalangites and 300 cavalrymen that could help the city in case of foreign invasion. Most of the soldiers's roles in the town are related to police and law enforcement like preventing riots in the taverns, that miners would steal silver that hasn't been declared.
Industry & Trade
The main occupation of the citizens of Lavron is working on the silver mines, while a minority works on other specialized jobs, like priests, bakers, inn keapers and farmers. Ham and olive oil from this region are very famous across Oronia. Meanwhile the city imports many common goods from other parts of the country, like pottery from the regions of central Oronia, wine from the Eastern regions
Infrastructure
The city is directly conected to the royal capital, Phagias thanks to the so called Silver Road, that also communicates Lavrion with other cities like Anhylussa and Magaspolis, making the city also benefited from the trade that goes along this route.
As the town is near one of the main rivers of Oronia, there are also dozens of watermills across the country that transform the abundant grain of the plains surrounding the town into flour.
Guilds and Factions
By far the most powerfull of all factions inside the city is that of the goverment officials, those related to the royal mint or with the organization of the work on the mines. Sometimes also, the silver artisans and the miners tend to cooperate, as they depend on each others work, without the artisans, who also buy the silver, there wouldn't be almost any profit to the miners, and without the latter, the artisans would have the materials necessary to do their work.
History
Officially in 561 BP the first mines where opened following the instructions of the Oronai King Aeropus II.The mines would and the local mint would produce the first standard Oronai coin following the patrons set in the Ikarian Empire. The settlement began to grow as it attracted many people who saw working in the mines as a very profitable job, despite the danger. By the 2nd century BP, three centuries after its foundation, the city benefited from the generosity of king Amyntas V, who constructed the main Agora, or central square, and the Temple of Abbon Shabai, the main temple of the settlement, and granted privileges to the silver artisans guild and expanded as well the Royal mint facilities.
Architecture
The architecture of Lavron is typical of any Oronai settlement, with temples and public buildings made of stone while most of the houses of the commoners are built with bricks. There aren't many public buildings in the city aside from the temples, the agora and a little theatre, in comparison with the other great cities of the kingdom. But still any Oronai comming from the city would find the commodities of the city, acceptable.
Geography
The setlement is almost surrounded by mountains, both to the north and to the west, while in the east lies the river Tedion, which provides fresh water (aside from that that cames from the mountain springs)
