Runa's Betrothal Letter

Runa's betrothal letter is a document sent in secret by her twin brother, King Leif Adelsköld to the High King of the Fae Realm, Lyfeldea. In actuality, there are eight high kings of Lyfeldea, but the one Leif's letter reaches is Daehwan Yun of the kingdom of Hwajaegi, who accepts the betrothal offer.

Purpose

Once the truth about Runa's heritage had been revealed by Niko to her brother, King Leif Adelsköld, a plan quickly started formulating in the King's mind. With Runa's skills in stealth as an assassin, who had very nearly killed him, Leif decides to send her to assassinate the High King of the Fae and prevent the impending war between the mortal realm of Venadeus and the fae realm of Lyfeldea. Leif sends the High King of the Fae a letter, suggesting an alliance between his kingdom Arenvik and the fae, by means of offering his sister Runa as a bride for the High King. Although Runa detests the plan, a blessing from the High King is required for her to even pass through the magical barrier separating the two continents. It is the only way and so she signs the letter beside her brother's signature.

Historical Details

History

The offer of betrothal between High King Daehwan Yun and Princess Runa Adelsköld, and its subsequent acceptance by the former party, is the catalyst that kickstarts the reunification of the fae kingdoms of Lyfeldea and conflicts between certain parties of Venadeus and Lyfeldea.

Public Reaction

There was no public reaction in Arenvik to the betrothal letter and its acceptance, as the Adelsköld family decided it would be best not to announce Runa's heritage when they first discovered it. The plan is for Runa to assassinate the High King of the Fae, and then return to Arenvik to be announced as the long-lost princess of Arenvik. In Lyfeldea, particularly the kingdom of Hwajaegi that receives the letter, the public reaction is a mixture of apprehension, unsurety if they can trust a human the wife of the High King, and anger that Daehwan would accept such an offer from the mortals who have always acted for their own best interests.

Term

The offer contained within the document was effective for ten days.
