Abadar Myth in Yeshilan | World Anvil

Abadar

In cities, political chambers, and markets across Yeshilan, you will find the symbols of Abadar. The Father of Cities, Abadar stands for trade and prosperity.

Before any merchant heads out on a trade route, they say a prayer to Abadar for safe travel and fortunate prices. When signing a contract, his name will be invoked for fairness and honesty from all parties involved. And when a new city center is to be built, a token to Abadar will first be buried upon the spot.

To appear before mortals, Abadar is said to take the form of a dark-skinned man with golden hair, or a giant golden-maned lion wrapped in silver light.

Abadar's clerics tend to live a life more luxurious than most other orders- temples are filled with more comforts to represent the god's blessing of prosperity, and his clerics reap this benefit. However, much work is also expected of a cleric of Abadar, as they will be called upon for many tasks within their cities: reviewing and overseeing contracts, consulting in trade matters, and advising political leaders in civic affairs. To take on these tasks, clerics of Abadar are well-educated by their order.
