The Ipare
Thousands of years ago, in the earliest histories of Yl Ter Tribaht, there used to be a race that called themselves the Iparé. The Ipare could take the shape of any humanoid figure they wanted -- in fact, they believed themselves to be the first humanoids, with other races being those that used to be Ipare but were cursed to be "stuck” in one body. Other humanoids were wary to trust the Ipare due to their shape-shifting abilities and apparently elitist world-view.
With the formation of the Impenetrable Mists, however, the Ipare eventually faded from the world's memory (see The Lost People). After The Cataclysm, Ipare held no apparent trace on the face of Yl Ter Tribaht.
Appearance
Ipare can look like anyone at any given time, though they do have a true form. Their natural look can be scary to some due to their lack of detail and distinctive features. Their skin tone is always pale, the darkest tone some have is a light grey. They have large colorless eyes and are circled by thick black rings. Their noses are small and subtle with no detail. The Ipare's body structures are slender, even more so than elves and border on being frail. Their hair color is most commonly a light shade of silver followed by platinum and blonde. In rarer cases, their hair can be pale shades of green, pink, and blue. Also similar to elves, Ipare lack body and facial hair.Lifespan
Ipare reach maturity slightly faster than humans and live as long as humans do; typically about 100 years.Names
All Ipare names are unisex and are very short, usually one syllable. Example Names: Bin, Dox, Fie, Hars, Jin, Lam, Nit, Ot, Paik, Ruz, Sim, Cas, Toox, Yog.Culture
Ipare worship The Ipare Pantheon, namely Kir-Joath, the goddess of balance. They largely believe that the world must have a balance of the first (Ipare) forces -- good, evil, chaos, and order -- to thrive. For this reason, most Ipare are neutral in alignment. They prefer to keep a low profile and often do not take passionate stances that would draw attention. However, Ipare can be any alignment, and often readily adapt to the cultures they spend the most time in. After The Cataclysm and the collapse of Orile-ede, a new society was established such that it could not be easily accessed by the denizens of Yl Ter Tribaht. This was the only way they believed the remaining Ipare could live unmolested by those that did not trust them. However, some Ipare -- descendants of those that had wandered from Orile-ede and were not present at the time of the Cataclysm, or the few that grew up in Orile-ede and left -- remain a part of Yl Ter Tribaht's Common society.
