The city of Taranthor covers an area of approximately 560 acres, with a total population of 17 thousand people. The city has 66 noble houses. The peace is kept by 116 guardsmen, and there are 38 advocates to assist with legal matters. For those more concerned about their soul, there are 359 clergymen and 7 priests.

Description

The city of Taranthor was built amidst the swaying grasses of a windy meadow and is truly a true modern metropolis. Its uniqueness is matched by the backdrop of mighty mountains which have helped shape the city to what it is today. The resources these mountains brought were of great importance, as they contain many resources which helped with the monopoly, trading and diplomatic affairs with other nations.   Education is superb in Taranthor and it has attracted a lot of attention. Countless cultures have left their mark not just on the city's cuisine, but also upon the city's identity. What historically was a city of monotony has grown into a large melting pot and it's this that unites the 17 Thousand people in Taranthor to this day.   Taranthor prides itself on the academic marvels it has accomplished, many of Ylandra's greatest inventors, wizards and scholars all have emanated from this glorious city of wonders. Crime is almost non-existent in Taranthor, as most citizens have received a significant education and have rised to earn a good wage and even explore the world in search of their fate. Many of the Paladins of Axebridge derive from Taranthor, and even Nix Riversong, a great commander of Eiswelth was born and educated in the Arcane arts within this city.

History

Even though it has been placed on Ylandra as a place of prosperity within the darkness, it still took it's part as a piece on the chessboard of war, training Wizards and Sorcerers alike to partake in the historical 50 Year war which devastated the landscape of Ylandra. The most significant event that Taranthor played a part in was the Battle of Grell Pass (Circa 1210 NB) which was the turning point of the war for Eiswelth. The armies of Eiswelth came the pass, outnumbered 3-1 by Ravenfell and Kaldaria, who banded together against the Kingdom of Eiswelth.   They had the numbers on their side, and were overconfident against the forces of Eiswelth. They fell into a trap, when Nix Riversong and his fellow Wizards and those trained in the Arcane arts, caused a landslide in Grell pass, killing the majority of the Ravenfell-Kaldarian army. This lead to the eventual Treaty of Zadeth (Circa 1211) where the war finally ended in a Eiswelth victory. Over a century later it still has still been untouched by war, and continues to educate those in need and those who desire power or knowledge, or even both.   Although Taranthor is a city of the mystic arts, many of the people outside of the city look upon the place with suspicion and doubt, due to the inherent fear of the arcane and prejudice against those who wield magic.
