Takul
Takul is a city-state in the Korosi highlands built on the shores of a mountain lake. The city climbs slowly up the slopes of Mount Jiku, the central mountain on the continent. The buildings are made of wood and imported grasses. Mages run the disparate science-religion and are always looking for meteorites. The Temple of the Stars lies on the mountainside, with a dirt path leading up from the city below. The City sprawls across the lower slope, squatting over the trade routes and lounging over the lake, culminating in the queen's house built on pontoons on the lake itself.
Roving bands of traders often balk at paying for both security, if they're lacking in familial protection, and taxes to enter cities. Some have been known to switch between trade caravans and marauders. The short bows many of them carry only barely compete with the elevation advantage the city archers have. These bands sometimes are hired by nobles to attack other cities to discourage traders from going to those cities.
Government
Queen Saliji controls the clerical mages through her militant followers. She protects the city through this militia and the mages. The city, in turn, controls the trade route roads. These traders, carrying grasses and ores, are taxed heavily in goods whereas the populace is taxed in labor. The militia also doubles as a hunting supply and bring in fresh meat frequently.
Defences
Small walls are built onto the roofs of the outlying houses as sentry posts.
Industry & Trade
Fishers, ore collectors and farmers make up the majority of the city's industry. The natural chert deposits run down the highland slopes and collectors often make trips down the slopes to get these.
Infrastructure
The queen's house is built over a large bridge above the lake.
Natural Resources
Fish, wood, tallow oil, millet and chert.
