Dragon

Dragons are incredibly rare in Yonder, those that do exist are usually in incredibly difficult to reach locations, or they are hidden in plain sight often using magical abilities to hide their presence.   Dragons are creatures of magic. Their words, thoughts and dreams affect their bodies and the world around them.   The dragons were part of the first war with the giants which shaped the face of the planet, and were the creatures who first learned to harness magic in a way that would be understood today. The words of their first language are the core and etymology for the runes used in arcane magic to this day.   Additionally they and their language were the source of inspiration the elves first used to create their own language, and were the ones whom the first elves learned of the weave from.   There are an unknown number of dragons living with in the world but there are some that have ancient historical significance and are talked about still to this day, many of which it is unknown by the people of Yonder whether they live or not.         The Great Mother - Kro - one of the last dragons alive from the war with the giants before the divine compact. Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons rarely reproduce and are therefore rarely seen in many realms of the world.   When they do it is via eggs which are laid by the mother dragon, and are tended to either by the mother or sometimes by the servants of the mother.   The color of the dragon more often than not corresponds with the color of the mother dragon, though the fathers color can be passed down if it is different from the mothers it is just less likely. This may be due to the fact that mother dragons discard or destroy eggs that they know will not be of their own type.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons age very slowly and do not have a maximum lifespan, it is possible for a dragon to live forever. The age of a dragon can be determined most obviously by the size of their true draconic form, simply the larger a dragon is the older it is.   A Wyrmling is the first type of dragon this is the age from when hatched till around 5 years old. A Young dragon is considered to be around 6 to the age of 100 years. A dragon is considered an adult when it surpasses a century in age similar to elves. And dragons beyond a millennium are considered Ancient.
