Aori-Sanjam
Aori-Sanjam, or the water festival, is a celebration in the summer nights celebrating the building of the artificial reef off the coast of Surbaria.
History
14 years after the initial construction of the Surbaria Reef, major changes to the ecosystem were seen, all positive. More fish species appeared in the waters, more coral grew naturally and other plants, and the sea was clearer.
The mayor of Surbaria then announced a celebration, after the increase in fish had benefited the population of Surbaria People. The mayor stated the celebration would last a night, but there would be a 4 night holiday that everyone would get a break from school or work, except for officers.
Execution
The celebration starts off at dusk, when the sun is sitting on the water. The residents all gather in a circle, spinning around, throwing flower petals of all kinds in the air, letting the wind carry them in the air. Then, the mages will create beautiful bubbles of water floating up into the air from the sea. Throughout the whole night there will be songs sung by all the residents, dancing, and huge feasts. The celebrating lasts hours, until the early morning.
Components and tools
On the second and fourth day, a large table is built on the beach. On it is a massive feast cooked by the entire village. Each household is encouraged to bring a unique food, which is selected by the mayor's organiser team. The more renowned cooks in the village are selected the more important foods, but if someone actually cannot cook, they are required to help set up the table.
Participants
The entire village of Surbaria attends Aori-Sanjam, uniting the village people by celebrating during the nights, singing, dancing. People can volunteer to get up on a stage and perform acts of dancing, magic, or anything they think people would enjoy. Doing this earns you a good reputation and a special badge that gives you access to new things others without the badge cannot.
