Nice settlement and map! Quite like the surrounding landscape of the calderas and the use of the water around to deter dragons.
As for your first map I think you did a good job so no need to stress too much about it ^^ You could add more details to it such as using the same ground but darker to show where people tend to walk most of the time to create some form of road. But in general it looks good :)

I'm glad you thought the map was alright! I'd love to add roads and things like that, but I don't think I can with the free version - the ground I used was the darkest I could find. But thank you for the suggestions, I am considering Inkarnate Pro so you might see an update soon :P
I hope you have a great day!

ooh that could be true, I have the pro and for creating a 'road' effect I use the brightness tool of the same ground type so perhaps that is something you can't do in the free version :p

I really like the map here! And the reason for lots of water is quite understandable. o,o
I think that with some of the details being relatively narrow, a 2-wide + 1-wide (possibly mixed with 1-wide + 2-wide) column structure in the full footer might be nice near the end.

Glad you like the map! Not quite sure what you mean by the width, but I'll try and do what I can :)

It's the most-default trick I use when styling my own stuff, varied-width columns with containers.

Great concept, and I dig the map too. I really love the water catapults and use of the lakes and rivers as defence. Keen to know more about the matokale and how their customs are shaped by mining, and constant threat of the dragons.
Thank you so much for liking the article and taking the time to comment! I'll definitely be writing an article on the matokale at some point, not sure when though xD
