Black Sargassum

This article is incomplete, and it shall be expanded upon some time in the future. :) If you would like to see it expanded upon, leave a comment letting me know!

Black sargassum is a type of algae growing on the surface of the Blackfields. It dominates the surface of the water, providing homes for countless small fish and crustacean species, protecting them from predators. The Blackfields gets its name from this sargassum, as from a distance it appears as solid ground. In some areas where the sargassum is thickest, an adult norrabian or adamnan can walk on it.

The sargassum is incredibly fast-growing, growing over a metre in length every day. This is countered by herbivorous animals consuming the algae.
