Pyromancy
Pyromancy is the magic over fire, flames, and heat. It is often considered one of the most dangerous fields of magic, considering how easily fire can destroy. Pyromancy is banned in many regions across the Yonderverse, especially in urban areas where a simple spell gone wrong can cause millions of casualties.
Pyromancy is tied to the Gaslit Realm, where pyromancers harness their power from. It is one of the most well-known elemental planes, appearing in different forms in countless religions and mythologies. The Gaslit Realm is given many names, often called the same name as Hell, a planet in the Kurhira System.
Utility & Usage
The most amateur of pyromancers are capable of summoning flames on the tips of their fingers. This does not hurt; a pyromancer cannot be damaged by their own flames.
Most pyromancers use their powers for good. This can include creating sources of light, in the form of torches and lanterns, and sources of heat, powering ovens and furnaces. More powerful witches have better control over summoning and manipulating fire on a large scale.
Users
Several pyromancers have made their mark throughout the history of the Yonderverse. On planet Earth, the European Wildfire that devastated over thirty countries, was supposedly caused by a pyromancer.
On Maloruno, Sifona, the "world's most powerful witch", absorbs the soul energy of anyone she encounters, using her pyromagical abilities to trap people within the sprawling maze forests.
Many believe the Burning Sea War's climactic final battle was enhanced by pyromancers, with the raging fires still burning even five-hundred and fifty-five years on.
Social Reputation
Pyromancers are often avoided in public spaces. They are identifiable thanks to scorch marks on their fingers due to excessive firecasting. A common belief about pyromancers is that they are quick to lose their temper. The use of fire magic has no effect on one's personality, but the mistake is often made.
As a result, pyromancers often feel like outcasts. Many firecasters find comfort in pyre covens, a specialised fire-centric group of witches and other magical users.
