Personal history
Rio Mertin was born into a small family in the south of Nydiowa, close to Mantakar Lake. They were a poor family, only making enough money to survive. They lived in a poor neighbourhood. He never had a proper education, and he struggled in class, especially with his anger issues stemming from his childhood.
His father died from Oerina in 1854, when he was 7 years old. This caused problems for the family, as his father made most of the money that they lived on.
Rio then decided to involve himself in the illegal production of everglows, a practice he knew could make him money. He also knew it was very dangerous, but he wanted him and his family to survive. After a year of this, he began to climb the treacherous ladder of the illegal activities. His mother found out about this and kicked him out of her house. Rio then began to live homeless for the next 4 years, living alone in the nearby forest, building his own house.
He began earning enough money to build a house of his own. Now with this new found stability, he could focus all his time on selling the everglows and making more money. He quickly took over the entire operation. He was earning upwards of a million corral a week. This operation grew so large that he built 14 different farms to produce these deadly flowers. When Mertin was 55, he was caught and arrested, along with the entire operation. All of the farms were burnt to the ground, along with the everglows. It is suspected that there are more everglow farms that haven't been found yet, and that the operation is still going.
