Kenku of Tian Xia
The Kenku, or Tengu in their own tongue, are a bizarre race of ravenfolk from the eastern continent of Tian Xia. They are a relatively common sight in Kara Tur, and flocks have spread widely into neighbouring Neizhong and Xiatien.
They dream of flying, considering it most unfair of the gods to have given them feathers but denied them wings, and are utterly entranced by magic (although they tend to make notoriously incompetent yet unphaseably aspirational wizards).
They are hopeless plagiarists, due to an innate lack of creativity, and frequently try to pass others' ideas off as their own. But this seeming flaw has nevertheless made them envious copyists, scribes and mimics.
They have impressive memories and are naturally stealthy, making them perfect candidates as spies, lookouts and cutpurses, and have a remarkable capacity to perfectly reproduce any sound they hear at will. Their flexible bones also make them resistant to falling damage.
On Amarthaur they are a rare sight, and those few individuals who have wandered into the lands of Yore crave the company of their fellow kind. Members of other species tend to find Kenku intolerable company, whether for their annoying habit of incessantly bobbing their heads when they're thinking, or for their disgusting fondness for carrion.
