The Gearforged

The Gearforged are the Children of Rava, the Goddess of Gears. Exclusively found in the Clockwork City, the Free City of Zobeck, they are employed as elite city guardsmen, leaving the mobile Griffon Riders to patrol the outskirts of the city and surrounding farmsteads and wilderness.
They are forged in a difficult and expensive ritual, by binding the souls of those who wish to live on after death and serve their city. By being magically bound to a complex clockwork body, these wealthy individuals avoid both death and undeath, and - provided they are well-maintained - can theoretically live on indefinitely in their mechanical bodies, although they are geased to remain loyal and dutiful soldiers of Zobeck.
