Ye Ballad of Mherren Halfblood

By Kenneth ye Skald

Verse 1

I sing thee of Mherren, a fearsome Akrin,   Who did grow up a loner and outcast;   He brawled with his peers, who were vicious and mean,   And who shunned him because he was half-cast.

Chorus 1

But Mherren ne’er wept and Mherren ne’er cried;   He nurtured the anger that built up inside!   He could have been noble, he could have been good,   But instead did a deal with a demon.

Verse 2

Now Golak, the chief of the Tor’ug Orc tribe   Could see strength in the stubborn, scarred foundling;   So sent him away to realise his own mind,   But young Mherren felt wounded and hounded.

Chorus 1

Verse 3

So Mherren did wander the wildlands of Yore,   He stole and he hunted and foraged;   The few folk he met ran or cowered indoors,   Or passed out, leaving Mherren discouraged.

Chorus 1

Verse 4

One dark day, when Mherren was morose and forlorn,   In the mountains he found a fane, frozen;   He prayed at the altar and he was reborn   As the Demogorgon’s Warlock Chosen.

Chorus 2

(Now) Mherren found purpose and Mherren found pride;   He nurtured the evil that built up inside!   He could have been noble, he could have been good,   But instead did a deal with a demon.

Verse 5

His Lord granted sorceries foul and profane,   And a shape-changing Quasit familiar;   In return, Mherren promised that he would obtain   A vile, blasphemous tome of great power.

Chorus 2

Verse 6

Then one fateful day Mherren met with a band   Of unlikely and misfit adventurers;   With Wereleopard Rogue Mherren wanders the lands,   Along with Druid and amateur Conjurer.

Chorus 3

(But) Mherren’s dark secret he ne’er did confide;   He nurtures the evil that builds up inside!   He could still be noble, he could still be good;   He must choose ‘twixt his friends and The Demon.
