Osterian Pantheon

The Osterian Pantheon is made up of eight deities. There are three higher deities and five lower deities.     Higher Deities   Bur (lawful evil)- Bur is the god of darkness, fear, and hopelessness. In the beginning he battled his brother, Yirson, for control of the universe. In their ensuing battle Tah’ree (matter) was created. In an effort to end the battle, Tah-ree fashioned earth and gave each brother dominion over the planet. Bur was given the night, which was a first void of starlight and moonlight. Yirson, however made deal with Tah’ree that he would give life to Yorn if he could have some power at night. Thus, Tah-ree fashioned the moon and the stars. In anger, Bur fashioned The Nine-Hels. A place of his own full of evil and hopelessness. Bur also has domion over the depths of the sea and the underdark.   Yirson- (lawful good)-Yirson is the god of light and hope. He helped Tah’ree create life on Yorn and as a reward was given a portion of the night which was originally part of his brother’s domain. As a gift to the people of Yorn, and to offer protection against evil influences, Yirson created Solastros and Gwendalen. The brother and sister gave the people of Yorn hope and power to resist Bur’s influence. His symbol is the 8 pointed star- one for each month of the year. It is a symbol of his never-ending devotion to Yorn and it’s people.   Tah'ree- (neutral) - Tah'ree is more than the goddess of nature, she is physical matter itself. She is the creator of Yorn and the heavenly bodies. She brokered the truce between Bur and Yirson although the two still continue their conflict through proxy. Although she tries to remain neutral, she favors Yirson because he helped give life to Yorn. She created Rovan to keep the cycle of life continuing after death. She also created the Drowned Mother and gave her dominion over the oceans   Lower Deities   Rovan the Faithful-(neutral good)- Rovan is the god of rebirth and new beginnings. He follows Lord Hurg and creates new life and hope from death and destruction. He does not see Lord Hurg as an enemy, but rather a catalyst for change and new beginnings.   Drowned Mother- (neutral evil)- The Drowned Mother was created by Tah'ree and was given dominion over the waters of the Yorn. She became jealous, however, because she was denied the diverse sentient life that walked Yorn’s surface. Bur granted her terrible and evil monstrosities from the Nine-Hells in exchange for dominion over her deep places. The Drowned Mother accepted and now seeks to imprison the souls of mortals who dare traverse her domain without the proper reverence or offering.   Lord Hurg- (neutral) Many believe that when Yirson and Tah’ree created life on Yorn, they also unintentionally created Lord Hurg. Others believe that Yirson created the deity in secret with his enemy/brother Bur to curb the influence and power of Tah’ree and her mortal creation. In any case, Lorg Hurg is the god of death and rules over all life on Yorn.    Solastros- (lawful good) one of twins created by Yirson and Tah’ree. He is the god of life, light, medicine, stories and freedom. He represents all that is good and peaceful. He is very idealistic and often naive in regards to the evil the permeates the universe.   Gwendalen- (chaotic good) the twin sister of Solastros. The aid she offers humanity is much more cynical and realistic than her naive and idealistic brother. She is the keeper of knowledge and seeks to better humanity by equipping them with tools and skills necessary to defend themselves and to inspire hope. It is from her that knowledge of the arcane is obtained. She also guides those who studies martial arts, philosophy and music.
