Elemental Dispersement Tanks

Elemental dispersement tanks, also commonly referred to as breaker tanks or patchwork tanks, are arcanotechnical machines created to treat and reverse the effects of the breaks in genasi. Inspired by gith zaith'isks, these devices were originally designed to tap into the Outer Planes as a means of achieving resurrection without relying on mages or healers. Initial testing appeared to have mixed results, as it was capable of reviving certain test subjects, but not others. Later research revealed that the devices were incapable of reaching the Outer Planes on their own, as they would require a level of direct arcane intervention to do so that would undermine the device's intended purpose. As a result, the program was shuttered. It wasn't until 4,357 AB (5E 144) that researchers would investigate the connections between successful test subjects, discovering that the device only worked for genasi. Rather than continue development of the original machine, focus was shifted towards understanding the impacts of the device on the genasi, at which point researchers discovered the potential for their new device, now dubbed the elemental dispersement tank, to treat cases of the breaks.   Elemental dispersement tanks work by bombarding the individual within the tank with energy from the corresponding elemental plane. The high amounts of raw elemental energy from their home plane triggers a regenerative reaction within genasi, which heals the physical damages done by the breaks. Should an area be too damaged to benefit from the regeneration, the tanks are also equipped to inject repairing gel made from magically charged liquid gold to supplement the healing. Wounds healed in this manner will often leave gold markings along the surface of the skin, in a way similar to the elven practice of svarpatak. The presence of these gold markings signify someone who has undergone treatment for severe cases of the breaks, and has come to be a symbol of great strength among genasi.
