Harbor

Harbor is an isolated town located within the Spiketongue Mountains on the island of Pikmune. Originally established as a workers' camp for nearby mines, the settlement became a refuge for the island's native peoples during the D'Nalsi Empire's forced annexation of the island.

History

Throughout the First and Second D'Nalsi Empires, the island of Pikmune was of little concern. Pikmune lacked any vital resources, and any plans to try and claim the island were considered a waste of resources. Nevertheless, in the year 3,581 AB (3E 130), the Second D'Nalsi Empire established two sites on the island: a fort on the coast (the site of modern-day Cragshore) and a mining camp in the Spiketongue Mountains. Rupert Holvanth, the councilor who oversaw the operation, had hoped to defy the assessments of the rest of the Emperor's council and prove that Pikmune could be a vital part of the Empire. Instead, the mining operations proved to be of little value, with excavations of the Spiketongue Mountains finding little other than copper and tin, materials that were already harvested in abundance from other operations in the Empire. In the year 3,617 AB (3E 166), the mining operation was shuttered, and both sites on the island were abandoned.   By the time of the Third D'Nalsi Empire, the island of Pikmune gained renewed interest. Research into developing new arcanotechnologies was creating an increased demand for copper, a demand that was slowly exhausting existing mines. In a bid to get ahead of the impending scarcity crisis, the D'Nalsi Empire launched a campaign to claim the island of Pikmune and establish mines throughout the Spiketongue Mountains. The natives on the island were unable to counter the encroaching army, as the many disparate tribes couldn't match the strategic might of the D'Nalsi Red Crest. With little other choice, the tribes were forced into the Spiketongue Mountains.
