The Elysian Crown is a powerful artifact from before the Age of Collapse that was worn by the Emperor of the nation of Elysia. The exact effects of the artifact are shrouded in speculation and uncertainty, as the crown rarely saw use.
History
The Elysian Crown was forged to be worn by the first Emperor of Elysia, Jonas Duskryn. Initially, the crown was meant purely to be a symbol for the nation, a sign to all who may challenge Elysia that the people stand united, ready to face down anyone who may try to destroy them.
In time, as the symbol of the crown became a fixture of Elysia, the emperors who followed Emperor Duskryn decided to enhance the crown into something more than just a symbol. With the help of The Tribunal, the Empire's foremost arcane experts, the crown was enchanted with a number of potent effects. The exact nature of these enchantments were intentionally obscured, so as to prevent prying eyes from discovering a weakness in them that could be exploited.
In the decades following its enchantment, the emperors of Elysia began to wear the crown less and less, eventually reaching a point in the late Fourth Era where the crown was only ever seen worn during large national celebrations or times of mourning. This reduced visibility of the crown as a symbol, although not the only factor, was believed to be partly responsible for the civil war that would overtake the nation.
Following decades of conflict, the nation of Elysia would eventually repair itself, though the image of the crown had been forever tampered by the conflict of the civil war. In a desperate attempt to repair their image, the Emperor Titus Olivander began hosting large celebrations with himself on display wearing the Elysian Crown. These opulent displays were rather ineffective, and in a moment of chaos where the emperor had removed the crown, an assassin had managed to sneak close and assassinate Emperor Olivander.
