The Voyage

The denizens of the Feywilds are spared one of the worst parts of mortality: trying to figure out what to do with your life after graduation. Oreth Argrax, Valedictorian of the Grand Arcturian Academy class of 8E 598
The Voyage is a tradition performed by residents of the Feywilds. The purpose of the ritual is for an individual to be shown their purpose within the communities that inhabit the Wilds, using the natural energies that flow throughout the plane to divine their future. Locals suggest that only those born in the Feywild can take the Voyage proper, though there is some evidence to suggest that outsiders may also embark on the Voyage under very specific circumstances.

The Ritual

The specific nature of the Voyage you undergo depends largely on the race of the individual embarking on it. For instance, whereas a firbolg must journey into the Whispering Forests, an eladrin swims across an astral stream. The exact requirements of the Voyage is unknown to outsiders, as the process is only revealed in full to the one who must undertake it, oftentimes referred to as the Voyager. Once the ritual is complete, the memory of what was asked of them fades, and they are left only with the understanding that what was done was divined by the will of the Wilds.   That being said, there is some information that can be gleamed from what outside observers have witnessed. Those who have seen others embark on a Voyage have noted a distinct drive to complete a task, one assigned to them by one of the gods of the Feywilds in their dreams the night before. They do not speak of what that task is, only that it must be done immediately. Upon their return, observers note that the Voyager speaks of their new role, before sleeping for a full 24 hours.   When the Voyager wakes from their sleep, they awaken with any baseline knowledge required for their role should they lack it, as well as information on any additional processes that must be carried out to ensure their work begins as necessary.
