Asmodaeva
Asmodaeva is a resort megastructure between Allied and System Lord space, and is frequented by the elite classes of both. Known for its casinos, salacious entertainment venues, nightclubs, live performances, sports, and organized crime underworld.
Description
A colossal megastructure and eight orbiting structures that floats in the vastness of neutral space. The station is renowned for its decadence, with neon golden lights interspersed with ruby, emerald, and sapphire, sparkling as it rotates past the most picturesque corners of neutral space. Its attractions range from high-stakes casinos, to salacious entertainment venues, brothels, nightclubs, gambling, cuisine, live performances, sports arenas, and tourism spots. Many spaceport hubs and neutral stations in the wider galaxy have operations beneath its surface. Locales and interesting sights painted over to conceal the corruption within. Not Asmodaeva. It openly celebrates its history of corruption and System Lord founders who have become legendary icons, even in civilized space. It should come as no surprise that it remains a hub of organized crime, even after becoming a neutral system.History
For a time, Asmodaeva was the go-to resort for the System Lords, a group of powerful leaders from all factions who engaged in drug, weapon, and slave trade. Because it was visited so frequently by System Lords–many with vicious rivalries dating centuries, rules of engagement had to be set. And soon enough, the High Table was created as the governing body of Pirate space on Asmodaeva itself. Facilitating its laws and by extension: those of Asmodaeva. Through it all, the station passed from System Lord to System Lord, who was a member of the High Table. For sixty years, it was ruled by a Pagh named Goraz. However, everything changed when System Lord Soddorom proposed that Asmodaeva be declared a neutral system to attract more customers from Allied Space, who before then underwent thorough security checks, and whose reputations were at risk for visiting a System Lord-owned station. This move ultimately cost Goraz his iron-clad grip on the station, and many have speculated that he has harbored a grudge against Soddorom ever since. The station has flourished since then. Politicians of the Allied Galactica and many Neutral systems arrive openly to enjoy the revelries and conduct business under the table with the many System Lords they outwardly oppose. As business partners, thrill-seekers, and high-rollers from all corners of the galaxy. By design, the gleam of the station's glittering offerings masks the corruption in plain sight. No trip to Asmodaeva is complete without a test of one’s luck at the casino, a good sex show, and the sight of System Lord rolling in luxury. A spectacle to onlookers, even those who denounce their ways.Laws
Despite being Neutral Territory, approved for travel by the Allied Galactica, Asmodaeva inherits most Pirate laws. Drugs illegal in most civilized systems, slave ownership is recognized, and bloodsport are staples of entertainment in Asmodaeva. With so many System Lords in one place, the temptation to weed out the competition for great and small-time players is strong. So Asmodaeva operates under a strict set of laws to ensure the safety of its guests and residents. Laws widely accepted in both Allied and Pirate systems, though with a more lax attitude towards organized crime, and a draconian approach toward violations that harm or endanger guests. For instance, there is no killing on Asmodaeva, save for those with permits, slave entertainment, law enforcement, and self-defense. Bounty Hunters have a needle to thread when doing business on Asmodaeva. Guild hunters are permitted clients in both Pirate and Allied Territories. However, in Asmodaeva, they are only allowed business for Pirate Clients. Living bounties only, with lethal force in self-defense permitted. However, service for the high table permits the use of lethal force. While murder can lead to arrest and imprisonment, conspiring to or killing a System Lord can incur various special punishments, often designated for each quadrant the Lord hails from. Therefore, many sectors of Asmodaeva are often a sanctuary for deposed or exiled System Lords from across the Galaxy. You’ll find many of these has-been rulers of the cosmos in their own booths in the casinos and restaurants of the station, or spinning a yarn at a card table. Permitted stay, for a price, at the few hotels and casinos in the station that permit wanted System Lords. After all, they’re an attraction in themselves. Many run out of credits in a matter of weeks and wander the streets trading tales for credits. The networks of tunnels beneath Asmodaeva are wrought with former System Lords with as much glory to their name as credits. Staging their old conflicts with other down-on-their-luck System Lords, protecting their corners of the muck. Fighting for dominance at the bottom of the barrel.Aurum Guards
These gold-clad robots are the primary security force of Asmodaeva. Towering over most species at 9’2. Patrolling the streets, guarding the casinos and hotels, each unit loaded with a different form of firearm for various live fire situations. They are designed to look imposing, with a broad chest, with two massive arms, a flat stub of a head, and a gleaming red visor. What separates them from most commercial security drones is their custom design and brutal suppression of station violations. Not ceasing their fire until their target ceases to be anything distinguishable from a flat ash-ridden smear of red paste (or whichever color your blood is). They’ve been programmed with over sixty-one thousand different kill sequences, making inventive use of their firearms, arms, torsos, station architecture, and even oncoming traffic. Their vocals were synthesized from 311 apex predators from well-known systems. Their programming is overseen by the High Table’s chosen programmers, botsmiths, and engineers to serve no Master. Only existing to ensure that the guests and residents of Asmodaeva are kept in line, lest they face a brutal (and highly entertaining) end.Class
