Pirate Coalition

The Pirate Coalition is a loose alliance of drug syndicates, dictatorships, arms dealers, slaving empires, criminal organizations, and entire alien species that span thousands of worlds throughout the galaxy, and the enemy of the Allied Galactic Federation. The two existing in true opposition, with the Allied Galactica representing   At the Coalition's core it is made up of System Lords--the default title for the rulers of these territories, whose territory can make up anywhere from a planet to entire solar systems. These System Lords are fiercely competitive with one another, each hoping to expand its influence within the Coalition. Many aspire to take a seat at the High Table of System Lords. Twelve System Lords who command the most power or territory whose decisions affect the entire Coalition, and by extension, the Galaxy. Furthermore, they set the rules of engagement, resolve conflicts, and maintain order even among System Lords with the most animosity. Without the High Table, the Pirate Coalition would truly be nothing but a collection of opposing mini-factions, and pose no threat to the galaxy.   Despite their tension, practical Alliances are made for resources and protection in and out of the territories. The entire Coalition is essentially a quilt of these relationships. One System Lord may have millions of slaves won from their conquest, another has the ships to move them, and another may have the training houses to ensure maximum quality. One System Lord may have the greater product, chemically pure flare, or well-pastured float, but another System Lord may have the muscle and resources to move it in and out of Sovereign or Allied space.
An attack on two stations in the Aycoth system, initial reports say it was Gorzek Ironhand, his men were there after all. But I had my suspicions about the Neo-Ojeda Crime Family for some time. They've been raring to move their product for some time into the core worlds. Turns out, it was both. Gorzek muscle, Neo-Ojeda product. We assume System Lords just get in each others' way like Sparrow Shrimps at feeding time, poking each other with their pincers for slop before its even touched the trough. That's when they're on their own. But when they're threatened by us, these individual Pirate sects work together. They make a fist.

  • Though the Allied Galactic Federation is more organized, with their entire defense fleet outfitted with the latest technologies synthesizing the latest each of their species has to offer, the Pirates command more territory, more bodies, and greater numbers, and thus are a formidable force. And though their weapons are more varied in quality compared to the AGF, their weapons of planetary destruction serve as enough hard power to deter open war.   The Pirate Coalition is not without its weaknesses; its decentralized structure makes it vulnerable to internal conflicts. Conflicts that would tear any galactic government apart, but to the High Table, problematic systems are seen as an opportunity in the best instances and like a limb that needs to be amputated at worst. If a System Lord fails its duty to keep its subjugated people in line, the High Table will see it fit to allow their rival to assimilate their territories into their own. Or uplift whichever insurgent leader props themselves in their stead.   While the High Table affords many freedoms to the System Lords beneath them and those beneath them, the flow of contraband precedes everything else. And will exert their power to maintain it and keep the strength of their deterrents unwavering. Or, the image of strength at least. Though the Pirate Coalition and the Allied Galactica are enemies, both work hard to maintain the current order.   After all, the many worlds of the Allied Galactica are among the Pirate's greatest customers.
