Alenra

Grandmaster

The Aasimar daughter of Shun. She was unable to master the non-combative possibilities of ki to the extent that Shun wanted, and ultimately, his disappointment made him give up on the monastery entirely, and retire as grand master. Alenra became grand master in his stead, holding a resentment and betrayal from her father who had, from her perspective, simply abandoned her with no indication of what it is he'd wanted. Strict and orderly, she turned much of the monastery especially in Helgafell, into a school of discipline and bodily mastery. She was fair, except for the occasional student from Shun, who she'd look down on due to her resentment, seeing the failure of so-called student that were, in her opinion, drastically inferior to herself.   Ultimately, her opinions began to shift after Shun's death, which she had witnessed, along with all the other students of the monasteries. She'd seen Opal strike the final blow, killing her father. At first, she rejected his insistence that she had mastered what even he could not, and was his greatest student, still seeing her as an ignorant child, and refused to acknowledge her as the new Grand Master. However, she fought Opal herself, and after suffering defeat at her hands, realized that there was something to her after all. Opal convinced her to join the Elven Court, along with the entire monastery, and Alenra fought at her side against the Empire during the siege of Casal Issilideth.

Post-War

Allynra worked closely with Opal, helping to advise and help the young Grand Master through the revival of the Open Hand monestaries. She was invaluable in showing Opal how to do her new role, and handling more of the practical elements of Opal’s leadership. During that time, the two grew closer, and Allynra achieved her goal, learning far more about ki, about Opal, and most of all, about her father, who had never truly opened up to her. She improved in her martial arts after decades of stagnation, and came to accept her father for the man he was, accept herself for not living up to the expectations he’d had for her, and accept Opal, almost like a sister. As the years passed, and Opal came into her own, Allynra had a final bout with her, conceding halfway through, and learning “the last thing she wanted to know”. Shortly after, Allynra suddenly disappeared with a small word that she was going to visit Shun’s grave. There, a silver ribbon was tied around the small bear statue where he’d battled Opal for the last time, and she was never seen again. Allynra went down in history as a great Grand Master that had built the Monestaries into what they were today.
