Spires

These spires that scatter across the horizon of Yis are the mana regulators that Yunan has left behind to keep the children of the mages safe, i.e. the people of Yis. These spires were put here when modern history began, stabilizing the general vicinity surrounding them allowing both nature and society to flourish. The generators that allow the towers to continue to stablize the areas around them are the gods that Yunan trapped within these towers. Around the world it is common for the spires to have a religious significance as they do technically bring about most of the gifts to the modern man as they control almost everything that occurs within the stable mana zone's borders. As the races continued to research, theorize and utilize the stable mana surrounding the towers, they learned how to utilize the mana provided by the spires creating the modern civilization landscapes, bustling with people and technology. The interior of the spires themselves are said to hold a variety of architecture and landscapes that typically mirror the personality and traits of the god held at the top of said spire. These spires recently however, have started to be conquered and plundered by a variety of people, causing them to collapse when the god is taken from said spire. Since these megastructures have been the cornerstone of modern society it has caused civil unrest in many nations that fear their spire will soon collapse and cause calamity.

Purpose / Function

The purpose of these structures is primarily to regulate mana in the general vicinity around them but, some have theorized other purposes recently. Since the doors have just unlocked and the dungeon within has an incredibly low survival rate, some believe that Yunan put these in place to slowly cull the stupid from society after it becomes advance enough. Others think that Yunan made these and put gods at the top with the intention of eventually making those who can conquer the towers a kin to beings similar to the 14 mages with vast amounts of power.

Architecture

The internal and external architecture varies completely from tower to tower, seemingly correlating directly to the personality and abilities of the god within. Another interesting note about the internal layout of the spires is that they are non-euclidean. If one were to look on the outsides of these rooms, it'd be a completely blank void with other rooms scattered around the void.

History

Only recently have these spires been conquered, the first being in the 60's otherwise the spires themselves have been unchanging for millennia. However, the paradigm surrounding the spires has vastly changed since the first one collapsed. With this civil unrest in many nations it has been outlawed to enter a tower without some sort of permission from the ruler of the country the spire resides. In addition to this, many religious sects who worshiped the towers and the gods inside have recently changed beliefs and scriptures to align with the current world events surrounding the spires, viewing those who plunder them as uncivilized and barbaric.
