Aenuneir's Dragon Mantle

For as long as anyone can remember, Clan Aenun has kept a massive, furred pelt in the Great Hall. Legends say it's the pelt of an evil dragon Aenuneir slayed.

The dragon mantle is a long cloak, dragging behind on the floor when worn by someone of an average height. It lacks a hood, but can wrap around the wearer like an oversized blanket. Its fur is almost completely white, spare some lavender markings, with longer strands accentuating the shoulders, resembling a mane. The feel of the fur is delightful—very thick and much softer than expected. The underside is a light umber leather with a somewhat scratchy texture. Altogether, the mantle is a heavy piece of clothing, surprisingly breathable in hot conditions.

History

Many years ago, Aenuneir was just another warrior. He was not yet known nor significant to history. When the evil dragon Baiyae attacked his people, he took it upon himself to slay it. After a long and grueling battle, he skinned the beast and turned its pelt into a mantle. He placed a settlement upon the dragon's lair, wearing the mantle as a symbol of power and leadership.

The settlement grew into Clan Aenun, and the mantle became its emblem.

Significance

The dragon mantle is one of the few remaining artifacts that are believed to owned by Aenuneir. As such, it has become the chosen symbol of Clan Aenun. Their skirt pattern resembles the pelt, threaded to be white with lavender stripes.

Suppossedly, being the pelt of Baiyae, it is unable to be burned or pierced, and protects the wearer from both overheating and freezing.
