Etel is the God of Lies, and represents deception in all its forms, and the tendency for even "white lies" to come to evil eventually. he is the darkness that conceals the truth, and covers the actions of the dishonest. He loves nothing more than to see a perfectly arranged chain of deceptions tilt like dominoes and leave everyone involved in chaos and pain. Hubris and over-confidence are always punished, even amongst the higher ranks of his own clergy.
Etel's clergy (sometimes called Whisperers in the Dark) live by the mantra "Nothing is true." and seek to spread distrust and misinformation everywhere they can, sometimes destabilizing entire nations with complex webs of lies and deceit.
Etel is the consort of Dima Sorgossa, but resents his subservient position to her. He is constantly plotting to get some kind of angle or advantage over her. His plans inevitably fail, and she delights in mercilessly punishing him for them, a situation which only re-enforces their relationship's dynamic.
He usually appears as a man with black, slicked back hair, a clean shaven face, an olive complexion and a gently forked tongue. His clothing often contains shaping or embellishments in the shoulder area to make his appearance seem taller or more imposing.
