Jompá (Yom-pah)

Jompá is chieftain of the mining town of Skalmarkelda.   He is short tempered and no-nonsense, but generally considered to be fair and decent. By tradition of Skalmarkelda, his seat could be taken in single combat, but nobody's felt the need to try in the last 20 years.   Jompá began his adulthood as a miner, never intending to be a warrior. The previous chieftain, Ube, mismanaged mining operations to a dangerous degree for years, eventually leading to a collapse that caused the death of most of Jompá's work crew. Ube mockingly accepting Jompá's challenge came just seconds before Ube's throat was torn out. Kormak, Skalmarkelda's shaman, declared the event to have blooded Jompá as a true Urskan warrior, earning him a suit of armor that he promptly stuffed in a wardrobe in his new office and never wore again. He's been focusing on running the town and its mines ever since.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Jompá's stance and fitness reflect a man who stays active, but whose activity has become more and more administrative than laborious in years, and age and stress show in his figure. While his edges be going soft, there's still sinewy muscle lurking beneath the surface.

Body Features

The most noteworthy feature to newcomers is Jompá's claws: they're permanently coated in metal to aid in digging mines by hand. This is achieved by way of a painful alchemical process that was in fashion when Jompá was a young miner. It has fallen out of fashion as younger generations have demonstrated that an Urskan miner can accomplish far more with a standard mining pick, custom built for their large frame.
