Yuan-Ti

The Yuan-Ti are the descendants of a snake-worshipping former-human empire that ruled northern Rhyduania during a far distant time thought to be before the era of the Adlon Empire. Their universally slim figures, sinewy movements and scaley skin remain as a result of their ancestor's trafficking with the snake gods of the distant past.
Many Yuan-Ti have assimilated into the larger culture of Nehemen, but rumors, legends and tall-tales continue to circulate of groups of them keeping the old ways alive and making dark sacrifices to their serpent gods in ruined temples beneath remote sands, waiting for their chance to seize their old empire again.
Realistically, very little information survives from the time of the Yuan-Ti empire, and much of their archaeological record was obliterated in the The Tel Ramiya Crisis . Some religious practice and ritual remains in day to day life of modern Yuan-Ti, showing reverence to a benevolent figure called She-That-Crawls, but no organized temples or clergy exist and true faith is rare. Highly specialized sages are aware of cryptic references to a pantheon of gods known as the "Legless Lords" or "Serpents Supreme," depending on the translator, but details are scant at best.

Beauty Ideals

Yuan-Ti culture tends to focus on the beauty of motion rather than a static image. Grace takes precedence over form, and agility is beauty. Still, layered chiffons are often worn in colors chosen to complement any scale or skin coloration present, and elaborate jewelry is prized.
